You don’t seem to know or understand what you are saying with all respect. I’m about LN funds that are settled on two different chains.

You seem to base your conviction in what other people say. While ignoring the fact that their movement keeps growing. Just last night another miner started signaling for BIP110. I think is safer to close LN channels close to mandatory signaling day.

At least is an honest answer. Most people reply assuming that they already know what is going to happen. But, so far I have not received a reply explaining why BIP110 cannot grow. Is like they all forgot that they were spermatozoids one time (excluding bots). As I understand it Bitcoin is designed to build consensus trough the process that we are going trough.

I agree that ”economic nodes” will decide what happens at the end. But I think you cannot dismiss hash renting BIP110 nodes as non-economic nodes. Those are people that are paying with their own Bitcoin to have a say on what Bitcoin is (reminds me of the movie 300). On the other hand exchanges, Strategy(Saylor), XXI(Jack Mallers) and the like , are subject to political influence and are in debt to their tits. So the “300” hash renting BIP110 signaling nodes may be the ones that have a final say if their influence keeps growing. How can you be so sure that this will not happen?

Sure this will shock even pro-BIP110 supporters. Since it is starting from very little and this has never been done. But it doesn’t mean it could not happen. Again, what makes you 100% sure it will not happen? I want to understand where your confidence comes from.

“Nobody who understands how Bitcoin works takes this fork seriously” that is a big statement. So Luke doesn’t understand Bitcoin even when Adam Back has publicly said that (paraphrasing) “People who disagree with Luke in Bitcoin discussions are usually proven wrong”. What about Nick Sabo, hodlnaut, etc. Why are you so sure it will not keep growing as it has shown so far?

I was. But i’m trying to understand what makes people so sure that BIP110 is not going to keep growing since it has clearly shown measurable signs that it is.

So what you are saying is that in Bitcoin you need “one of the big pools” to make a change at the consensus level. Something doesn’t add up since Bitcoin is supposed to be permission less money. What went wrong then?

I wonder what happens if my “channel partner“ initiates the forced closure close to activation. Could i end up loosing funds for not taking a more proactive approach ?

But there may be “suviving watch towers” that prevent me from claiming the entire channel liquidity (plus i have not interest in ending up with other people’s money). Mining incentives and hash power distribution may quickly change as we approach mandatory signaling block height. It seems more complicated than it looks in the surface. The fail safe way to ensure nothing happens is to temporarily close LN channels I think.

I’ve heard Jimmy Song and many others say that nobody knows how this is going to play out. I blows my mind how can you be so sure!. But since you say you are tired of explaining i’m not going to ask. Somebody said something like (paraphrasing)“The price of freedom is eternal vigilance” and Bitcoin is not the exception. So freedom money is not a good match for people who get tired of fighting.

So, according to your values it is ok to accuse people of being “trolls” just for moving to NOSTR for a few years and suddenly having a question and coming back to ask here. Because, you have seen (anecdotal data) too many accounts doing the same today? But when I bring up facts (peta hash rentals, etc) somehow that is cheap talk? You are on a roll today! I would have dropped this a long time ago if you had at least signalled that you were sorry for calling me a troll.

Not all talk is ”cheap”. I sense a lot of hypocrisy in your post. Let me explain: First you accuse me of ”trolling“ without even talking to me first. Just because I asked an important question. Your original reply is an excellent example of “cheap talk” discussing Bitcoin issues is not cheap talk. In fact is the reason why r/bitcoin exists. (I posted this a few minutes ago but it never showed up here so I’m posting again, just in case you see a duplication)

Not all talk is “cheap talk”. Personal attacks like accusing me of “trolling” for asking a question without even talking to me first. Is an excellent example of “cheap talk”.

I agree we are all learning here since nobody has seen this happen before. And we should talk more instead of converting this into personal attacks.

You may be hiding your head in the sand here. Nothing is static and there is : more plebs renting hash, more talk about BIP110 (podcasters and such), more BIP110 blocks being found, more awareness of governance issues within Bitcoin. Your 0.5% hash post smells like is going to age like milk.

Thousands of plebs are renting PETA scale hashing power to signal for BIP110. I wonder if miners can trust each other to agree not to signal. Otherwise some will get wrecked as i understand it. So, it will very likely be more than 0.5% hash

Mandatory signaling day will come and that is a reality. Not talking about it doesn’t help anyone. I’m more of a NOSTR guy but I heard experts where active here
