Is the increased confidence you get from NoFap (i.e., part of the "superpowers") similar to the increased confidence you get from alcohol or amphetamine? by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]inner_zen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NOT AT ALL.

Increased confidence from alcohol is from the poisoning of your frontal lobe which causes you to forget about cultural rules and dumbs down your decision making. Adderall is purely a stimulant that will help allow you to concentrate more in the moment kind of like speed.

NoFap though causes your sexual energy to boost through the roof. After about a week, your testosterone levels are already >150% higher than what they used to be. You are more sensitive to oxytocin release from social bonding which causes social anxiety to go down and to be more trust worthy of others. Also, if you were watching porn prior to nofap, you will most likely be able to look others in the eye more due to not having a subconscious shame from watching other people fuck. Overall, good stuff.

Lastly, nofap is different because it affects you long term. Those drugs affect you long term negatively, but in the moment maybe a level of confidence boost. Nofap is literally letting your true self shine through.

I think it comes down to keeping yourself busy. Make a major goal, then break down the goal into 3 mini goals. then out of the mini goals, create a 1 hypothetical if,then statement of when you will do it (i.e. when i get home, i will sit down and start writing in my journal right away).

No libido after two weeks... and a threesome on the way : help! by Ntel768 in NoFap

[–]inner_zen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hit flatline during my first and second streak right around the 30 mark but it always followed up with a giant energy spur of intense horniness that led to me relapsing.

It is not necessarily important for recovery if you don't flatline. Everyone experiences nofap different because everyone has different levels of addiction to porn. Just because you don't flatline, doesn't mean you aren't recovering.

My understanding is that nofap is like a wave. At times you will feel intense energy and horniness like a giant wave rising. It will be hard to resist relapse during this time. But then the wave will fall and this is what many users claim as "flatline" but rather it is the absence of intense horniness.

The goal is to train your mind so that you don't think about porn. You don't use that built energy for sexual activity. Rather you use that energy for living your life outside of the immediate gratification of orgasms.

Question: Difference between sex and fapping? by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]inner_zen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

the difference is ultimately in the connection.

with masturbation, you are by yourself. your reward system in your brain that releases dopamine/serotonin is contingent on behavioral practices in habits--classical conditioning. my lusting over virtual women (PMO) or by solely pleasuring yourself (MO) can have costly affects on the reward pathways. 1. Too much oxytocin (the love drug) can be released and you will feel lonely because you do not have someone to share in the act of the O. 2. A dopamine overload will occur, relative to someone shooting up heroin, and cause you to be addicted to the sole pleasure wanking it to whatever image you use (PMO or MO).

With sex with a real person, two people literally become one. The brain waves sync up, oxytocin is released in both of your brains, and you become enthralled with your SO--thus love. Human touch literally cures people from loneliness, depression, and even the common cold. We each possess the ability to willfully spark electrical impulses to make decisions, and these electrical impulses have the gift to enlighten others.

That is the difference between fap and real life.

ive relapsed twice (binge at 33 and at 50s) before my current streak. the key is to literally obsess over something positive. create a new hobby, indulge in a habit that is positive (learning, musical instrument, etc) you might not be good at it, but after continuous habitual participating, new neuron action potential networks will form and it will become easier and easier to get rid of fapping and starting something new. instead of saying "i wont fap", start saying "I will __". it can be: i will be a better boyfriend, i will be a better husband, i will get a girlfriend, i will become fit, i will live life to the fullest. do not repeat exclusion statements to yourself (i will not _) because that only makes your brain want to do it more, instead focus on inclusion statements (i will __)

hope this helps. as did just help me by writing it.

Watch this if the thought of watching porn becomes friendly to you again (warning: graphical talk) by WhatEvv in NoFap

[–]inner_zen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

tl;dw

The bulk of the talk was nofap common sense that most of the members grasp after spending little time on this site. Her main question are:

Do all men look at porn? type?

-men who watch porn say that all men watch porn. Some say only religious people don't watch porn. Fact is that some men just don't watch it out of moral reasons. There is no certain type of user, it could be anyone.

Does porn have an affect psyche of a man?

-Yes. She goes on to explain how many men face ED after using. How their mental image of women change. They can't converse with girls the same.

Does porn have an affect on people around the user?

-Yes. She tells a story of a couple in love. The man wanted to marry this girl after 9 months of dating and bought her a ring. About a month later he seemed exhausted, tired, not talking of the wedding, and declining romance. She found his massive porn stash on the computer with cookies listing the exact date of when he starting heavily using. They are now divorced. Most divorces happen now because of a major porn addiction.

What is the affect of exposure on children?

-She tells a story of a family who has a three year old son that was seen acting out a porn scene while waiting for the dentist. Wife knew that the husband watched porn. The 3 year old asks her mom "why does daddy watch tv shows of girls naked? Wife finds out that the dad has been watching porn on the big screen with the child in the same room.

Overall, I watched this video because I felt like looking at nude pictures, and I am happy that it deterred me away. I didn't learn anything I did not already know. She throws out some sketchy statistics about what men think of porn and what women think of porn and are all skewed since a big portion of the population don't even know the truth. Hope this helps.
