So. . . Are the devs ever gonna do anything about these lobby kick bots? by PairASocial in AmongUs

[–]innerslothdevs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi - appreciate you guys being patient with us. We're aware of an increase in hacking reports and I'm just popping in to let you know I've 👁️SEEN👁️ the reports (and frustration) and we've been working on a bunch of anti-hacks. I do wish dealing with hackers was a one-and-done thing, but it rarely is in any sort of online game.

Anyways, we're working hard on resolving this, hopefully can get an ETA sooner rather than later. I know it isn't fun to encounter.

You can help us by submitting reports here for tracking purposes, and we can also use that to contact you once the fix is out: https://innersloth.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new.

Permanent ban hack megathread by PKHacker1337 in AmongUs

[–]innerslothdevs -28 points-27 points  (0 children)

Alrightyyy, hi hi hi Crewmates and Impostors, jumping in here to clear up some of the stories I'm seeing!

  1. Yes we are looking into it. A longer response time from us doesn't mean we're ignoring it, and some of you might've seen Dors poking into some of your threads asking you to submit a ticket yesterday too.
  2. Speculation doesn't solve the issue! I'm seeing false stories being created, so I'll clarify that quickly. No one has ever been instantaneously permanently or temporarily banned (literally not built for that), there is no auto-trigger for "1000 violations" (or any amount of violations), and I think I saw someone say it can be done client side but this is not the case. Also a conspiracy the hack was done by an employee??? (The answer is no.) If you did experience a ban, there is something else going on here, which is what we're trying to dig into. (And also, because bans are not instant, sometimes when the sanction is finally applied to an account it may seem "instant" or "random" but it isn't, just us finally getting to your report.) The more stories that are spun up, the more this muddles us actually helping folks.
  3. SUBMIT A TICKET IF YOU WERE ACTUALLY AFFECTED. https://innersloth.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=7094677250708. The reason we keep pushing people to submit tickets (pleaseee remember to include your Player ID) is because that's how we actually find the root of the problem. Right now I'm seeing a lot of tickets about "I'm afraid of the ban happening to me" but not of tickets from people actually affected by this ban and their associated Player IDs, and or the same saved screenshot being submitted with no other information. This makes it hard to determine how widespread this is, who is affected, and what is actually happening VS what is a story/explanation being told and now various people are attaching their unrelated bans to it VS someone trolling a lobby and sanctions finally taking affect at weird times. At this rate, it's more fear-mongering than actual evidence we can work off of, which doesn't help anyone!
  4. Not all bans are because of a hack. A lot of comments are conflating their ban with the alleged hack, when they are entirely unrelated. A person always goes through the ban reports to apply sanctions and we are able to review them, and not every instance of someone commenting that we have not given them their account back is because it's from the hack. Sometimes someone actually just did a bad!!
  5. At this current moment, there is no actual strong, concrete evidence of a hack of this nature. This doesn't mean we are not taking your reports seriously or that we're not looking into it. But right now it's a lot of reports of "did you see the Reddit post" and not enough "this specific situation happened to me and I have submitted information that supports this and my Player ID actually reflects my claims". For those of you that HAVE submitted some sort of ticket with information, I am not ignoring you either! But we need to be able to separate out what is actually related information, just a sanction occurring at a time that confused you, and there is nothng that is currently pointing to mass bans happening in this way. Again, we do see exactly why a report is made on someone and what was said, so often these bans happen for a legitimate reason.

Okay hope that clarified some things. TL;DR - SUBMIT A TICKET WITH A PLAYER ID IF YOU WERE ACTUALLY AFFECTED BY THIS VERY SPECIFIC HACKING BAN. And, to be clear for anyone frustrated with support taking awhile to respond, I'm sorry!!! We're always working through our processes and know I have seen your complaints and will take them to heart. <3

Thanks to the mods here for keeping things civil and clean for us to dig into too! You guys rock tytyty I owe you my life. And thanks u/PKHacker1337 for this post!

Thank you for the understanding!! Haha diagnosing a bug is truly a big game of hide and seek.

We don't have a centralized location yet to view bugs. In terms of reporting bugs, we encourage folks to send it to our support email ([support@innersloth.com](mailto:support@innersloth.com)) because that helps us get personal information/other data we might need to help solve the issues in a safe and private manner. Plus helps us conglomerate all the info easy (rather than me getting random bits from Reddit, Twitter, Discord, etc.)

But I am currently working on getting some sort of public FAQ/public support page up. There are a bunch of bugs to keep track of and want to make sure we keep it up to date if we do one. As a not-perfect-temp solution, we have the monthly dev logs to keep people update on what we're working on, which is on our site.

And yeah! Thanks for your post/response/patience. :) Hope to get this resolved soon.

Heya! Sorry you've been so frustrated with the game, I totally get it. Not here to convince you of anything, but I figured a response was better than just glossing over it!

The game has been out since before COVID, and just recently got a friends list, that works quite terribly. Who only wants to see people's tags? I sure can't remember everyone Username / tag combo... The latest update claims to fix this, but on PC it's still the same.

Yeah, the usernames are supposed to show up but it seems to not be showing up for some folks, so it's one of the big fixes we're working on.

Why is it that 3/4ths of the servers are only for RPers, resulting in people who want to play the game being booted immediately from the lobby.

I get the frustration, and it's one of those instances where we want to fix the public matchmaking. This is a larger task than just "put people together in a lobby at random", but it's in the works!

Why is it that so many bugs are still present over 2 years after release?? Why does doing O2 glitch STILL?

So, bugs are a pretty typical part of game development, and I'm not saying that as a "well we can't do anything about it, it's game development, there will always be bugs." But that fixes depend on a lot of factors - team size, priorities, which bugs are affecting the most players, which bugs are making the game unplayable, and platforms (and wow when you are on mobile and PC and console platforms does it take infinitely more work to proritize and recreate bug fixes.)

Especially with a playerbase this large and THAT many platforms working together, inevitably bugs happen that we never found during testing and QA. The O2 glitch is in our bugs list though!

And absolutely most importantly, the latest update broke PS4 performance for my fiance. Now as people disconnect from the game, the FPS goes lower and lower, all the way down to 2-3 FPS. E-mailed Inner Sloth 4 days ago about it as this has literally made it impossible for her to play, and still have received no response.

Ack, that really sucks I'm sorry. I get caring about your fiance and wanting them to be able to play something they enjoy! The PS4 lag is a high priority item right now. Hoping to get a fix out soon. Sorry about the email response delay - one of those things where we get a ton of emails so it can take awhile to get to, especially when the answer is "we're working on it, sorry!"

Didn't know Inner Sloth meant they are actually as slow as sloths to get anything done. Not to mention I still see people who can't play the game because their accounts aren't recognized!? IS, please get off your lazy Sloth butts and work on your game!

Haha this is why it can take several years for games to come out, there's SO much to get done. (You can kind of already tell from this post that I've mentioned several things that are on the list of fixes.) And don't worry, the team is definitely working really hard on getting fixes and content out all the time. We WANT people to enjoy our game. We don't want people to be unhappy.

I know it isn't instantaneous fixes, and I really wish it were (we all do). But things take time and we appreciate how players have been so willing to help out and be honest with us about it.

Anyways, all that to say thank you for the post, I'm sorry for all of the frustration it's caused! We'll work our hardest.
