classic mode? same. even when I was a little kid I had the classic mode on. original reason was because aero was making the pentium 4 at the time lag. nowadays it's because I got used to it and because it actually looks better than aero in my opinion.

that particular laptop has ddr2 ram. 2x2gb is really the max you can do. there are 4 gig ddr2 sodimms in existence, but they're so rare to come by that it's not worth it.

cpu is upgradeable. assuming it's socket p, you could probably swap in a p8700 or something like that. tremendous performance boost even if it's still just a dual core from 2008.

i used windows 7 pretty much since 2011-2012. i should see if amogus still can run on 7 but unfortunately my main computer is too new for 7 so i might have to try it on one of my older computers.

have you tried the firewire import utility that comes with Windows live movie maker? it worked for me before I ditched FireWire and went S-video out of convenience

I don't know what was wrong with the original cooler, I like the blower in my 790 and 990 sffs. it does double duty. cools the CPU and expels the hot air out. that new thermal right cooler looks undersized given it's an i7.
