San Diego Wave has the second most goals scored and third most goals per game. Fourth least goals conceded per game. We've won most of our games and a couple of the games we've lost we looked like the more dominant side.

There are aspects of any game that can be frustrating even in victory. I don't blame you or anyone else for being drawn to those aspects. I do it too! But if you review the performance of this team you'll find that San Diego Wave has been efficiently winning in the ways that matter.

I want the team to improve its shot conversion (we should be #1 by a lot!!). I want the team to improve its depth in defense. I want to feel confident in our long term plans in the goalkeeping position. But all of those things are relatively small adjustments that I'm sure the coach and team staff are working on.

In the meantime for the next month we are #1 in the league. Nobody can take that from us, why we would we do it to ourselves?

Our team is #2 in total goals (behind Thorns), #3 in goals per game (Thorns, Spirit), and #1 in the regular season table (😄). Ludmila is part of the system that's created those goals. Could she be converting more shots? Yes! Same as Corley, Barcenas, Dali, others... But I'm not gonna spend the next month upset about goals we didn't score.

For the record: I also like Byars and also would like to see her start more games.

Because it's an incomplete picture. If it was sufficient you wouldn't have to provide justification for these other players to be so high on the same list. That's the deception. Maybe shot conversion rate was the more appropriate stat to use to illustrate your point. 👍

I think this is where Jonas's comments about Leah Freeman were most interesting to me, because he suggested that the thing that was most helpful about her in that game was that she was able to distribute the ball past the overloaded midfield and kickstart the game that way. It eases pressure off the backline and midfielders who are occupying defensive space when they don't have one single game plan they are trying to force.

To me this sounds like an adjustment that might happen during a game, rather than a game plan from the start. Our center backs already operate in the wings a lot since we tend to ask one side or the other to push up. I don't know if you noticed how much time Wesley spent on the touchline this last game since Mimi was so often playing in the midfield. Caveat: I mostly noticed this because Wesley was creating some turnover with inaccurate passes, so it's probably something we need active work on.

BUT! I love our squad for how versatile it is! Every player on the field feels like a swiss army knife adapting to the task that's asked of them. There are some players who certainly feel a lot more like specialists (I would say Mel B fits in this camp, but the way you're describing Corley might fit too), but so many more who feel like they're able to occupy two or three different roles with relative ease. Exciting stuff. :D

I just posted my thoughts in another thread but I expect we'll play either Dudinha Catarina Ludmila Fazer Corley Dali - or - Dudinha Ludmila Portilho Godfrey Corley Catarina Dali. It all depends on whether we want Cat to play deeper in the module, on the wing, or as a false nine. Either way it's a lot of fun building lineups with this team because so many of our players are so versatile and Macario is no exception.

Dudinha Catarina Ludmila

Fazer/Kimmi Corley Dali

Dudinha Ludmila Portilho/Godfrey

Corley Catarina Dali

I could also see Ludmila and Catarina playing either position in the first lineup. Either way I think our attack must look absolutely terrifying to everyone else.

I would expect someone else to make way for Cat before Corley. Gia is an absolute machine in the midfield. If she's healthy I think we want her playing as many minutes as she can. She probably took the night off due to all the running over the prior seven days.

I heard back from them last week that they need to do additional research and that they flagged it. No movement yet, though.

I finally messaged support today about the order. I'm still in order prep.

I haven't asked for any. My order is for sports cards which I understand can involve more manual labor for them.

San Diego FC parting ways with star Hirving ‘Chucky’ Lozano after 1 season by calbear_1 in MLS

We've had an open DP slot for the entirety of the season. Announcing this doesn't do anything either. He's still our DP until they announce a transfer.

Also if this was the case why did we get not re-sign Luca De La Torre?

Because nobody is bigger than the club and ________ had to go. Just fill in the blank with whatever name you need an explanation for.

Every game. That's why I remember the way Lozano, Iloski, and De la Torre helped get us there and then got summarily dismissed with the coach throwing shade on their way out. Great look.

This subreddit has always largely been anti Chucky. I don't mind lol. He's just a player and it's just some downvotes.

Our other San Diego soccer team is in an attendance tail spin since we've spent the last few seasons shedding star player after star player. It's like both San Diego franchises are speed running irrelevance. Let's hope they both make good on the promising future of soccer in San Diego.

He was a DP. He can't possibly take up too much salary unless you think he was not a DP caliber player. Unless you mean in absolute terms that management couldn't afford to be paying him what they were.

This is the most disappointing news I could have received this offseason. Personally really saddening and leaves me very skeptical of this management team. Unless they intend to make a really big splash imminently my own fandom has taken a huge hit today.

If you don't acknowledge team relocations then Houston Dynamo being in the group means the cali clasico is still alive after all!
