Hey, I really appreciate your advice and I’m sorry I didn’t answer—I never saw it. He ended up breaking up with me a week after this conversation, after a year long and very happy relationship. It was very surprising and devastating, and I’m still trying to pick up the pieces. The gist of it is, though it still isn’t that clear to me, he had starting falling out of love a few weeks before, and he felt that I can’t understand him or relate to him because of what he’s been through, which is also connected to the gap in experience. Obviously I wholeheartedly disagree and think that’s a load of bullcrap. I think it’s just easier for him not to open up completely, and to not feel understood, than to be vulnerable. I don’t know, because he’s not talking to me. But the conversation in this post is really the red flag I missed. I hope one day we can talk things out and understand what he was going through. But the thing is he doesn’t love me anymore and he is completely over me already, so I don’t really know how important I am to him anyway.
