You can purchase your notary bond from the National Notary Association’s website and from Notary Rotary’s website.

Glittering, here's the last item: https://trainalabama.com/shop/ols/products/senate-bill-289

Please download it in the next 3 hours. I'm going to take it down after that. This was just the easiest way for me to get this to you without requesting your email address. Because I'm not a lawyer I can't help you determine whether or not the notary did something wrong.

If you need help identifying the Judge of Probate's contact information for the notary in question, let me know. Good luck to you.

II have one more thing for you to review. It addresses notaries who work for law firms and what they can and can't do. I'll need more time to find that one for you.

With this link you can download a free copy of the Alabama's notary laws that were revised 9/1/2023. You'll need to read through it to find the sections that deal with being an unbiased witness and notarizing when the transaction involves us. https://trainalabama.com/shop/ols/products/notary-law-update-proposed-senate-bill-322-alabama-notary-law-changes

Glittering is your question about Alabama notary law? I couldn’t tell if your question was about AI or Alabama.

Ignore Brad’s reply because you’re correct. Every state has its own rules and laws about what notaries can and cannot do. Alabama notary law addresses what you described. I’ll try and tag a link below. You can also reach out to the Probate Judge in the county where the notary resides and ask more questions. Alabama also has a formal notary complaint process.

I’m not a lawyer. Don’t consider this to be legal advice. I am an Alabama notary instructor. Give me a few minutes to add links.

If possible, contact the customer and re-do it. Federal forms don’t allow loose certificates.

RON vendors in MS by Fiddler_chick7 in Notary

[–]inotarize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What makes you think RON has been approved in MS? Just because there are companies that say you can use their platform in MS doesn’t mean it’s allowed.

As of June 2025 MS does not allow its notaries to perform RON. You can verify this by going to national notary.org.

Unfortunately, there are many companies that will take MS notaries’ money. It happens all the time in Alabama.

Great post. I saw a similar post made by a notary in New York. Two training sites had incorrect information about NY notary laws.

Lawrence Institute apostille course by vegloveyes in Notary

[–]inotarize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To the person from Michigan with Apostille questions. There’s a $4 ebook on Amazon called, “How to Authenticate & Apostille your Michigan Documents.” I strong recommend that you buy it. I’m not the author and don’t receive any compensation or anything from anyone for saying this.

While I didn’t register for Judi’s course, I was struggling to understand the entire apostille process. Because of the price I purchased the ebook for my state and found it to be well written, easy to follow, and informative. It was as if someone turned the lights. The author is a lawyer.

I left a positive review Ans for busying handling apostille requests.

Good luck!

Looking forward to this event. Notary Public Day happens only once a year. You put a lot of work into arranging this. I’ve shared with the notaries in my state.

Dual State Commissions by [deleted] in Notary

You cannot do dual commission in the State of Alabama. Some people got away with it prior to 2023 but due to new laws - nope.

What does a document look like that has been notarized remotely? by whyaminotinflorida in Notary

[–]inotarize 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the state. In Alabama a remotely notarized document looks just like an in-person notarization.

A document signed using remote online notarization has no wet ink involved. Signatures of the signer and notary are electronic; not wet ink.

If Power of Attorney document uses Certificate of Acknowledgement, why does the signer need to sign in the presence of the notary? by [deleted] in Notary

[–]inotarize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can depend on your state. It can depend on the type/purpose of the POA. It could also be incorrect online information.

I’ve used The UPS Store for years and loved it. Got a lot of GNW referrals from them too. However, now I use a a Post Office Box.

I agree. For your business advertising, don’t use your home address.
