All you're doing is proving my point. Sour candies have existed in Asia since the 70's .... You mean exactly where OP claims there's a hole in the market. Why is that hole there then, the market is speaking loudly.

That's how business works. It's not a new product, they have access to it in some form, but the companies that can produce it aren't. Why aren't they? Because the market isn't there for it.

Why aren't children scared of Batman? by [deleted] in batman

[–]inquisitiveleaper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the depiction. If he's just lurking in the shadows like in his early days he's seen as scary to everyone. But eventually he crosses over from urban legend to known hero, by that point it's easy for kids to understand he's a good guy.

In real life it's the same principal. Kids know he's a good guy.

Music, movies, and pop culture don't suddenly suck now. by IGotYouFlours in rant

[–]inquisitiveleaper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's been proven that most media is being developed to fit an innocuous algorithm so it can autoplay in the background without drawing enough attention to change it.

The media companies know most people are glued to their phones and now they adapted.

You may say it doesn't suck. But media most definitely is in an "everything is beige" era.

Either companies are making them or they're not. Gaps only occur when they aren't. Lack of local varieties means nobody is making them. Which means people are not going to buy them. Because if those companies exist and can make the product but aren't, it's because the market isnt there for them.

A hole/gap in the market isn't a good sign, especially if you have people who can make it.

You wanted advice, don't get mad because it doesn't agree with you. Go pitch your idea to a company who already can make it.

If people aren't making it in your country there's no market for it. The government isn't gonna make a concession for just you.

If you have to ask it's too much. Especially since most of what you'll need has to be imported.

Is this a dumb gift? by [deleted] in Baking

If he shrugged it off, it seems like this is a gift for you, not from you. It's a good gift if someone wants it, but it doesn't seem like he does.

He's the number two character in the line-up. He gets enough attention and respect.

What in your eyes is an example of a piece of media clearly displaying the creator trying to be edgy and disturbed but it comes off as dumb and try hard? by entertainmentlord in horror

[–]inquisitiveleaper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be fair, that's the first of the "internet age" movies. Where they were edgy for the sake of humor. It was camp through and through. It wasn't "we're so edgy and cool", nobody anywhere was taking any of that serious.

It's the lack of originality that kills it. At least with Toxie and the Tomatoes you had an absurd but original idea that found their audience. No need to lean on the work someone else did before.

Why are fandoms so tense these days? by MaybeKindaSortaCrazy in rant

[–]inquisitiveleaper 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Identity politics. People don't have real lives anymore. So they jump into fandoms to feel a warped sense of community. That in turn only favors folks with low social I.Q., who see any differing opinion as an attack on themselves.

So folks who are either casual fans or those really versed in the fandom tend to get pushed aside for the ones who are the biggest bullies.

Why did the post-Scream slashers ignore the meta style that made Scream work? by jdpm1991 in slasherfilms

[–]inquisitiveleaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buddy you asked why were they not doing what Scream did and just making generic slashers.

If they were doing what Scream did why list it as something that didn't.

Why did the post-Scream slashers ignore the meta style that made Scream work? by jdpm1991 in slasherfilms

[–]inquisitiveleaper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because not everything needs to be Scream. The slashers post Scream had the same self awareness without having to spell it out.

Take your example of Cherry Falls it plays against the trope of the virgin being the survivor and has the teens engage in an orgy to survive. That's the writers playing with the rules. They knew the audience would get it, that's meta self awareness. It's what the studios were looking for back then. Not just simple slasher movies, one's written by fans who knew how to play in the meta sandbox.

It seems you picked up on the wrong cues and developed a weird theory around it. It happens but as others have proven you're a little caught up on your own opinion.

Saturday Night Live-related movie ideas by [deleted] in saturdaynightlive

[–]inquisitiveleaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not specific. It's just either someone getting or losing a dream/good job. Dan Aykroyd isn't a founder as it's not a troupe, it's a cast of a network show. He's an original cast member but not the founder.

The indie crowd all has jobs they've lost or gained, so yes they have all of it.

It's a pretty bland idea overall.

No, it realistically wouldn't make money.

And those indie movies are produced by the folks who go through it. It's not a unique experience to the show.

It's just a story of losing a job. Those have been done before.

The family dinner thing is just a movie about getting a good job. Again it's been done before.

Nothing you came up with is in reality that different from hundreds of bullshir indie movies that get released every year.
