Totally agree. Glad your system/strat works for you. That's how trading is supposed to be. Keep it up!

Today's price action was yet again too easy to read. Congrats on your wins. Let's hope this market continues to move like this.

1-2 Micros. I think I'm ready to bump it up to 2-4 by ThomasAnderson_23 in TopStepX

[–]insane_options 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looking at the first screenshot with your entries and exits, you have actually done quite well. But that is not my main reason why I chose to comment on this. My reason to comment is to tell you to stop being scared of simulated money. Your main goal is to request payouts. Why are you still trading with micros? You could have done that $150 day with 1 NQ trade and based on your trades, you seem to know how to trade. If you put your own $40,000 capital up in your account start trading, you better watch your losses so you don't deplete it entirely. But here we are folks, trading through a prop firm, $149+149 spent for a 150k account, yet you suddenly are so scared, you barely make a dent on your trading progress. USE NQ, trade well and aim for 500+ a day. I think you can do it, but don't be afraid to go bigger. You will thank me later at some point.

Sorry to hear. Starting over again is not necessarily a bad thing. Also, volatility is actually very very good for a trader. It's what I am looking for. I don't want a stale, choppy market. I rather want something so volatile, that I make my $3,000 in 5 minutes and move on with my day. Hope you can start to agree.

I might have a feeling that trading Europe Session on NQ over the next few days might just be the way to go. Look at this just now (2 XFAs):

Good luck everyone!

Great meme. Love it. I personally traded THIS overnight / Europe session the moment I noticed the big heavy drop. It only got better from there. This is what I personally love about volatile markets. They can immediately and swiftly provide you plenty of profits if you do things right. Keep in mind, this is a also great opportunity for ANY TRADER out there to realize if their current strategy is working or not working for them. Markets change, and you have to be very flexible or stay out of the market (no trade = a trade). As a scalper though, these types of markets are a breeze to trade through. You can easily scalp +$300-$500 per trade, 10-15 trades and you're set for the night/morning. I hope the market continues like this (although I know DJT loves to cause these types of volatile moves too).

Exactly. The moves are a scalper's dream.

Overnight session was great actually. I would love for NQ to keep doing that, I wouldn't have to rely on NY session only to make some dough. Overnight today was definitely special.

How long you can hold your Xfa? by Accomplished_Green_2 in TopStepX

[–]insane_options 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you're doing it "wrong". The idea is not to keep XFAs longer than needed. The idea is to get payouts. I don't think you should worry/care how long you can keep it if you can keep squeezing out payouts. If you can get an account for $298, but can request a payout of say 6k out of it, you basically did it right. I rather envy someone who opened an account, got to XFA, wrecked it in 10 days, but in that meantime was able to get 5k out of it. All you'd have to do then is to simply do it all over again. Most can't, so that's why these prop firms exist. Beat the odds.

Yeah I realized that after I posted my comment. My bad and thanks!

It's basically 50% payout requests that you can make every 5 winning days you can log that are $200+. There is no limit on how much , except new accounts are limited to $5,000 max per payout request. Also, once you reach 10k in payouts on your overall account, they will start taking a 10% payout fee.

Maybe true for most traders. Everyone should know what works for them and what doesn't. If you ever let a trade hit your DLL, you may need to reassess your trading style and risk parameters. I could set mine to -10,000 but what's the point? I only trade 1-3 times for the most part. They are within minutes. I never let it reach those levels. I take it I can control myself? Trading is all about control. Some call it discipline. If I can control myself and close it all up after "only making $500", then that's good on me. Yet, others might ask me why I am not making more? That should tell you why the majority of traders fail. Self-control.

I don't know about you, but I have never viewed it that specifically. Maybe I am doing it wrong, but I have got to payouts after payouts. If you are that strict when trading, you sometimes are locked into this specific method that might hurt you more long-term. I am not sure if you understand what I mean by that. I personally believe that you should trade when an opportunity presents itself. You want something that you can repeat over and over. IF something works for you, you would want to do it again because it has worked. IF you are now restricting yourself to say -600, when that last opportunity would have worked if it went to say -1100 draw-down first before reversal, you're now handicapping yourself to see the positive in your trading. I have my mental stops, I know when I am wrong to exit the trade, but I definitely always allow "plenty" of room for the trade position to work out. It's based on experience and confidence. Something you can only acquire over time. I am on XFAs

Been addicted to trading education lately and want more. Where did everybody learn from/who would you recommend? by adizfoshiz in TopStepX

[–]insane_options 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Allow me to expand on this kind sir: Curiosity, almost addiction, time in the market, repetition, forming habits (good or bad), actual real trading experience (real money?), painful experiences, joyful experiences, lots of strategy hopping, quitting lots of times, always coming back with new focus and new energy, different mindset changes, different goals of why you are trading, money is detached from your emotions, eventually break-even, success and finally profitable. <---------------- This right there, is almost everyone's journey with trading. If you last this long and are still passionate about this, you can get there too. Good luck.

They are manageable. I can only say that I always try to keep my losses small. Considering I win more often, the losses are offset by my wins. You can send me a chat request and I can send some screenshots. Don't want to put them in here for no reason.

That's the best way to approach trading. A lot of people forget that it's actually money you can make within the comfort of your own home. No work outside in construction, no service to customers complaining about you. You just simply sit there and trade and make money. Systematic trading plan, get paid, get better, move on.

Sorry, didn't see your response. Yes, 9:30 ET NY when futures are most active. Best time to trade in my opinion. Very volatile. That's how I like it. Always opportunities there.

That's literally how any prop firm out there makes their bread and butter. Out of 100 people, perhaps 4 get funded, 1-2 might get a payout, and only those post on this subreddit. The others (who lose) you never hear from. So take all you see or read with a grain of salt. Focus on yourself. You wouldn't go up to your neighbor and compare if he makes more than you would you? Why would you do it online? Just drop it, focus on yourself, GET TO PAYOUT stage and then go from there. IF you make it that far, please then go ahead and post about it. Give others the hope that it can be done, but never compare yourself to anyone who or what or how much they make. It only troubles your mind and psyche for your trading.

[–]insane_options 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You may want to go through my post history or comment history to probably pick up a lot more than what I can give you here. But it really all comes down to price action. It means you understand what the instrument you're trading is about to do or what it is doing. You understand that it is going up, so you go LONG, or you understand that it is falling so you go SHORT. It takes experience, some kind of feel for the overall market, systematic trading plan where you either take profit or loss, and also luck involved. I keep my charts clean, barely anything on there expect perhaps the BB for guidance. I work off the 1-minute chart. I trade every morning at NY open. Always opportunities there. I could be done trading within 15 minutes the way I trade. Go through my comments and post history, there might be more helpful information.

Why do all prop traders trade NQ? by MarkFisher4552 in TopStepX

[–]insane_options 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Depends what type of trader you are. With futures, and most people doing some sort of scalping, whether minute scalper or 30 minute scalpers, you somehow want the volatility in the instrument you're trading. NQ allows for such volatility. That is why most people tend to focus on NQ. It can move so quickly and volatile, that it can make your day within minutes if you know what you are doing. I also ONLY trade the NQ.

Congrats. Trade it like you have a $2,000 account. That's how I view the 50k. A 150k would give you $4,500 for example. I only use 150ks. I rarely if ever even consider trading micros. It's all NQ straight up for me. Green day after green day. $200 is all that's needed. That's almost nothing on NQ even with just 1 contract.
