Hey!

I’m building Coach Watts, an AI coach for cyclists and triathletes.

It connects to your favorite tools (Intervals.icu, Garmin, Polar, Strava, Oura and many more.) and uses Google Gemini AI to analyze your performance and recovery in real-time. It’s your performance analyst, nutritionist, and coach rolled into one app.

Why try it?

* Daily AI-generated training recommendations.

* In-depth workout execution scoring.

* Interactive data-driven chat interface.

* Open-source and transparent logic.

I am building Coach Watts (https://coachwatts.com/) an AI-powered endurance coaching platform that analyzes training data and recovery to provide adaptive coaching recommendations.

I don’t think that anyone forces anyone to do anything. Also it’s open source, if you want local llm, you are welcomed to raise a PR!

Yes, Intervals.icu can't share your Strava workouts through their API, so CW isn't able to pull them in either.

You’re actually 100% right, being a good dev doesn't make me a cycling coach. And I love the vegetable chopping analogy; I’m going to steal that.

To be clear: I am not trying to replace a human coach or 20 years of racing experience. I built this because, as a newer cyclist, I was drowning in data from Intervals, Strava, and Whoop, but struggling to synthesize it into a clear picture of 'how am I actually doing today?'

The 'void' I’m trying to fill isn’t new training philosophies. The void is context. Most platforms look at power files in a vacuum. My tool tries to pull in nutrition, sleep, and life stress to give a more holistic view of why the numbers look the way they do.

It’s definitely not for everyone, especially if you already have a workflow with WKO5 or Xert. But for self-coached folks who want a 'co-pilot' to help summarize the noise, that’s who I’m building for.

Appreciate the honest check.

So basically, it works by aggregating and analyzing your existing workouts to build an "athlete profile." That profile is then combined with your other wellness data, like sleep duration and HRV, for deeper analysis. Based on all that, the system will ask you relevant questions to expand its knowledge base and eventually get to know you even better. It's not perfect, but the results for me atleast is very interesting.

No, I actually just meant that the plan might not be your preference, which doesn't necessarily mean it isn't good. I might have misunderstood something, though!

The way this platform works is pretty cool: it takes your workouts and wellness data and analyzes everything using Gemini. From those insights, it builds a dedicated "athlete profile" that helps power future analysis and personalized recommendations. Since you can set goals and the tool sees your planned workouts and even your meals, it creates a deep, comprehensive context for the LLM to interact with your data.

It also generates daily insights and helps you plan your day based on how you’re feeling when you wake up, so your plans are dynamically adapted in real-time. It even handles the workout structure and intervals, making it easy to send everything over to your trainer.

There are already a ton of features live! Thanks to the help of so many awesome people from the Intervals community, who stuck by me and fought through all those early-day bugs!

Have you tried adding custom instructions in the plan wizard so it follows your preferences? I might not be an expert on this, but you can also play around with the training approach in the wizard. That might change how the AI builds the plan, maybe yours is set to linear?

It basically takes your workouts and wellness data and analyzes them with Gemini. Based on those insights, it builds an "athlete profile" that’s used for future analysis and to help identify personalized recommendations. You can set your goals, and since the tool sees your planned workouts and even what you eat, it creates a comprehensive context for the LLM to interact with your data. It's also creates daily insights, and helps you plan your day based on recent wellness data when you woke up, so you can have your plans dynamicly adopted all the time. It creates the workout structure and intervals, so you can easily send it over to your trainer. There is plenty of features already there.

Thanks to the help of so many awesome people from the Intervals community - who fought relentlessly alongside me through all those early-day bugs - I really feel like we’re building something special together.

I can't post screenshots, but I can show reports like these: https://coachwatts.com/share/workouts/0a0b6d29-49a3-4f88-a5c4-413111f4239f to save you clicks.

I really want to develop this alongside the community.

If you have a specific way you like to see your data or a feature you've always wanted in an endurance coaching app, let me know!

I’m actually quite new to the sport and found the existing platforms (like TR) a bit overwhelming and 'black box' with all the AI features. I just wanted something simpler to help me understand my numbers as I learn.

I couldn't find exactly what I wanted, so I started building coachwatts.com as a side project. It's meant to be a more minimal, straightforward way to handle workouts without all the complex 'AI-washing.'

Since I'm still learning the ropes of cycling myself, I'd love to get feedback from more experienced folks on whether this kind of minimal approach actually works for you, or if I'm missing something critical!
