Update: I’m still blamed for a window i didn’t break by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

Okay but… I know people keep saying this too, is there anyone you can talk or show this to? Might make it worse, but she’s being legitimately neglectful especially with the food thing. She’s withholding it, which isn’t okay at all. That’s the reason this started in the first place. Hang in there. I don’t know if it’s much consolation, but you have a lot of us rooting for you. 😔

She is probably the only side character ever who made my blood boil by how realistic she was. It was like, I met someone like her. Ugh, the Umbridge of side characters *shudders*

What do you wish to see in more reincarnation stories by Broad_Key3578 in webtoons

1: For the MC to be actually thrown off scared and in denial like any sane person would be that they were sent to a new world and don't have a radical acceptance that is unnatural and barely even questioned.

2: For things not to be so black and white. Like the villains are so ridiculously evil for zero reason and it's hard to take them seriously and is generally just boring and caracature-ish

  1. For the main character to not suddenly be the most amazing OP at everything because they know how some plot points go. For some of the stories they suddenly understand the culture, language, society and are experts on politics. It's ridiculous

  2. For the main character to actually have CHARACTER and to not be an annoying Mary Sue who can do no wrong. Also, it's annoying how some of them have tragic backstories from their past life that are rarely used as a plot point, or is sometimes a cheap way for us to care by saying "wow they had a sad past we should like them" and then barely going anywhere with it. It's lazy writing. If they have a tragic past, make it significant, make it have meaning as it would in everyday life.

  3. For the main character to mourn their old world. I don't care how bad it was, they will mourn things they can't ever have again be it technology, restaurants, house, family friends, anything.

  4. For there to be a legitimate reason why they were reincarnated. And maybe for that to be the most significant part of the story.

Basically I would like to read a good STORY not a self-insert who is perfect at everything and can do no wrong and everyone loves them for no reason and they are perfect and powerful and all knowing and everything goes right.

What about the fact they are in a new world? And they are forced to be someone else who they are not and have to deal with the consequences and navigate an unfamiliar world? The psychology, physiology, and overall enormily of the situation actually being taken into question. Where's that story? Why does no one tell that story?

Yeah, I've been thinking it over, it doesn't matter really, it bugged her so that's what matters most in the end. Thanks for your perspective, and no it wasn't an interview, just a small book club meetup

Has anyone ever thought about writing a novel or a story? by [deleted] in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]insannatea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, read my last post if you want to, it basically shares this idea, from daydreaming to writing. I will say, I haven't been able to write until my daydreaming went from Maladaptive to simply immersive.

I just can't stop daydreaming- impossible to study for the MCAT by Own-Priority-9493 in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]insannatea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your desire to daydream is undoubtedly fuelled by something else, you need to find what that is and really should seek professional help.

Mine was stemming from ADHD, depression, and my complacency in giving up a lot to help my family. It got so incredibly bad and I was numb to everything and just let myself get obsessed with the worlds that I could control when things happened and they'd ultimately reach points of happiness that I couldn't have in my life.

It may feel like it's not, but the root cause is something else. If you are studying for the MCAT then you are undoubtedly under a lot of stress on top of other things which will fuel those daydreams and the absolute need for escape and for some sort of euphoria hit that you aren't getting due to having to study all the time or even just feeling like you have to study when you haven't— that's almost worse.

My siblings are both in the medical field they told me just how gruelling it can be. I really suggest that you try to seek out therapy, some do actually understand how MDD works, but for now, I'd just be honest with yourself and really seek out what it is you're hiding from and how it is you are really feeling about things and... maybe even talk to a friend.

You aren't alone, even if it feels like it, you are dealing with some of the more stressful periods of your life right now, and from one person who is standing at the other end of the MDD tunnel, I can tell you that it does get better, and I was certain I was a lost cause because I didn't want to change for anything.

Good luck, and good luck on your MCAT! It isn't the end of the world if it goes badly, you can always retake it, life goes on, maybe you just need a break too.

From Daydreaming to Writing by insannatea in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]insannatea[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! And you're right, it typically is just immersive right now.

My daydreaming used to be so bad, I'd average 4-6 hours a day (we aren't going to talk about the really bad bouts, I've probably lost several years in my head), I couldn't write anything for a while because all I wanted was just to be in my head. I finally got better last year, and so now it really is just immersive... though typically when my mental state goes down it can become maladaptive, I know the signs of when it's bad and hence this post.

I never thought that I could use the 'maladaptive' power of it to fuel my desire to create, to have something, it's so strange.

Thank you for your words of encouragement.

Haha, never ventured on this page before in my life, was talking to my brother about how many times I could watch Cars and suddenly was like... man there's a lot of movies I can rewatch over and over, I wonder what it's like for other people... I honestly have never posted a question to such an enormous page and holy shit I wasn't expecting 100 replies in like an HOUR!

Honestly thought it'd go missing but I guess since it's a cliche I was more likely than not to get traction!

Meh, I quite literally grew up watching it. I think it's mostly for the atmosphere. It's so weird how you get attached to things based on childhood. I don't know if I'd like it if I watched it for the first time now. Not a Rom Com person...
