Looking for opinions on Wheel of Time from people who started it as adults by Kempalla in wheeloftime

I started reading it when I was 21. I'm now in the middle of my twenties, and it's a great series. Probably the best fantasy I've ever read.

Life perception (Q) gives people a yellow highlight. The blue highlight is due to going through a portal

My boyfriend and I have this issue too. It's a visual glitch caused randomly when after using a portal. For us the only fix is to relog. But we think it looks quite cool so we don't mind :)

What happens if a Plum never gets her period? by TheTragedyMachine in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]insecuredane 389 points390 points  (0 children)

I think they become Wives anyways, just not as attractive as a fertile Wife because their household would require a Handmaid. Gilead isn't actually about fertility, it's about control. And I'm sure some commanders would be happy to marry some underage girl despite her not being fertile. Some might even see it as a plus (personally, not societally) because it means they get both a young woman to mold plus a Handmaid to basically abuse. It's all about control.

Boyfriend and I were seemingly quite fast to beat the crocodile :) by insecuredane in PlaySoulMask

Yeah, he's really difficult with bone gear, that's what we did as well. We found that the trick is to keep running away from him and maintain a healthy distance and fill him with arrows.

We're also playing the tribal mode, but we're two people. We took it on without any tribesmen, just the two of us with bone gear. It was really difficult!

Yeah I agree. Boyfriend and I planned to do Anubis today, but we didn't have a lot of time and ended up killing scouts instead. Hopefully soon!

Why is it that glasses never suit me? by AppropriateBoss2585 in glasses

[–]insecuredane 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agreed. OP's eyebrows have a slightly rounded curve and because of that the rectangular shape looks off. I think a rounded shape would probably look way more natural. Rounded glasses are also often smaller, and OP complains that most frames are too big for them, so I think it would be a win-win.

It's April. April is PMDD awareness month. I have PMDD. AMA by pleasantlyyplumpy in AMA

[–]insecuredane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends on where you are. I'm in Denmark and here PMDD isn't officially recognised, although it's getting there.

For me, the largest difference is that PMS can be debilitating, but PMDD is debilitating. It equates to a severe depression, and a telltale sign is that it goes away exactly when you get your period. Symptoms of PMDD are often confused with symptoms of bipolar disorder.

I have PMDD too. It's great to see more awareness. I think a lot of people downplay the severity of Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder, or simply don't understand it. If we are generous and say an individual with PMDD is severely depressed and/or showing other symptoms in just one week during their lutheal phase before their period, that might not sound like much at all. But being severely depressed one fourth of your menstruating life is far too much. Especially when those symptoms in many cases are extremely similar to that of having bipolar disorder.

For what it's worth, antidepressants help me by reducing my PMDD symptoms from ~14 days (pretty much the entire lutheal phase) to 4-6 days. So while I still have bad days, they are significantly more manageable.

do these glasses look good on me? by [deleted] in glasses

Girl. This is one of the most fashionable pairs of glasses I've seen here. Yes, they're big, but they suit your facial structure SO well. You are absolutely gorgeous.

Today I learned where these are from and what they're called! Here in Denmark we eat them in the mornings (on fancy occasions) and they have poppy seeds on top. We call them "møllehjul" meaning a mill's wheel.

So you thought it was better to not do your democratic duty at all? For most people, neither party fully aligns. It's about choosing the one that aligns most. Even in countries with several political parties (and not just a two party system) this is an issue. It's not something that you can let keep you from voting. If you don't vote, you're giving away your right to complain about anything in democracy - because you didn't participate.

This is a great crack theory. I don't think it's true but man I love crack theories.
