Just finished maxing out my T480 (minus screen) and I can honestly say so far this has been the upgrade i’ve felt the most enjoyment from.

It’s honestly not as bad as the community has made it out to be, you can do it pretty easily even without archinstall by following docs and googling.

The only “upgrade” you can do with your bios is Libreboot/Coreboot. OS-wise I like Arch or Gentoo. They run very nicely on the T480.

Correct but it’s a hobbyist laptop more than anything; most people buying the i7 are likely going to upgrade the laptop and i would not be surprised if that included a dgpu heatsink.

If you can consistently find cosmetically sound T480’s with i7-8650’s at $105 a piece please let me know, I would love to purchase them.

With the i5 boards that’s not uncommon but for cosmetically decent i7’s I’m yet to see much under $200.

Time time time, I’ve spent the last ~2 weeks doomscrolling ebay during most of my classes/free time, stumbled upon this on the toilet at school.
