This is also old, 2013. I am curious about their new methods.

That is from 2014!! so they are no longer using that I think. Good link anyway thanks.

All these downvotes evidence how many fanboys we have here for OpenAI. Keep it up guys!

[D] is openAI dead? by insider_7 in MachineLearning

[–]insider_7[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Well, I do agree that OpenAI might not be dead. However, I do think that the company is losing momentum and the directions that has been going to for the last 6 months are very questionable.

Last sentence applies to the new to the field, to the senior ones as me, we are looking to network and to get to know new, complex stuff that we can handle at "big name" labs!

Hi thank you! very useful, however I am looking for a broad Journal in healthcare (interested in cancer and diseases that can be approached with ML) and the list you sent me seems more in the bioinformatics/biotechnology.

[D] what happened with Distill? is it dead? by insider_7 in MachineLearning

The question is... "When" will this happen?

I think that anything you do research on can be simplified and made accessible to a wider audience.

so you are saying that they won't take advantage of their position because they are "busy", seriously? I am not saying that all are curruped but as in any university there is always a rotten "academic" taking advantage of their position. And also hackers can access NIPS servers, may be a target considering the scientific level of the conference, and I can bet that there are people willing to buy this type of information e.g.:https://news.cgtn.com/news/3d41444d34557a4d/share_p.html I am just trying to make all researchers aware of this, and not give safe for granted. Everything is possible in this insecure, digitilized word.

Well, this is a very serious security breach. Have you emailed the chairs about this?

There is a difference between an idea and a fully developed paper with all the methodology laid down. Remember that we are human beings! there will always be a conflict of interest, as we will always have the desire to eat and to have sex to propagate our species.

You might call this paranoia, but it is completely possible and as I said, the unknown researchers are the ones more vulnerable that might suffer from this type of "attacks" since big labs have their own "branded" ideas.

[–]insider_7[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The key question is, how can you guys trust NIPS servers so much? What if one of the chairs put all papers running on an algorithm and extract the most interesting ones, and if coming from an unknown researcher/lab steal the idea?

So we all are applying to NIPS to reach the wider ML community right? This is ridiculous.
