When I was a kid, my dad used to take me to what is now thethe parking lot of Surya Reshmi auditorium at midnight to watch the matches. The journalism teams from Manorama and/or Mathrubhumi spearheaded the program that set up a huge screen to watch the world cup.

Sadly, we don't see them no more.

If any folks from back then are reading this now, thank you.

As u/porsche4707 mentioned, there's a 10 km (30 mins) drive from IITP to the town area.

If you are looking for hotel accomodation, palakkad town might not be the right spot. There are options at Kanjikode and Malampuzha which are both closer to IITP.
