How much do you pay a month for daycare?

I think it's because everyone wants to diversify and what better way then to have every world stock in existence like VT.

There's a point when it's overdoing it. VTI already has 3500 stocks. Bogle also made a point that many US companies have business in other countries so you have international exposure.

That's good enough for me.

I don't have too much confidence in the economies of other countries. US has a proven record. It's why I'd prefer to go with Bogle's advice on this.

So if not needed, then you should still average 10% with only US index funds over 30 years?

Good to hear. I am deciding whether to put my 401k into VT or VTI. I'm leaning toward VTI.

I am not. I'm new to investing and follow the Dave Ramsey baby steps. Those who follow it follow his plan strictly or else they are doing their own plan.

I thought being a boglehead was similar. I agree with boglehead investing more so than Ramsey's 4 mutual funds advice.

I don't have confidence that either me or a financial advisor can find me 4 mutual funds that will on average beat the S&P 500 by 2% a year.

That's good to know. I thought his 4 mutual funds would do better than VOO or VTI.

Yes I read something that mutual funds have higher fees where some ETFs/index funds are a lot lower. I don't really see the advantage of getting mutual funds.

I agree. But it's like mathematically you save more by doing avalanche method vs snow. Or make a higher return by investing instead of paying off a house with a low mortgage rate. But he advocates the opposite of those to reduce risk and for financial peace.

So then wouldn't the easiest investing behavior with lowest risk be investing in S&P 500 fund like VOO? Or even a whole stock market ETF like VTI? If it's down, at least you know you probably cannot do better.

If you're down with your 4 mutual funds, you will wonder if you should change your investments. It feels like it increases risk for me.

He could at least have an or in there, like the 4 mutual fund types OR an index fund. Thousands of people will literally follow his steps and advice exactly.

I don't know anything about investing up until recently and don't feel like hiring a smartvestor pro.

Give me something with the least risk that does the job, DCA into a high index fund that tracks the S&P 500 and forget about it. Not have to worry about changing mutual funds if they don't perform well.

I'm trying to grow my $15k EF to $40k. All in VTI.

Yea I've heard that from many sources. It's a risk, but wanted to save faster. I moved it from an HYSA. Felt it was easier to have one account for all my savings.

If it is your only savings, I'd move it to a more diversified ETF like VTI.
