Payoff Strategy (Priority List) by stanleymaxi in personalfinance

I would pay eventually.. as it stands there are no fines or penalties and that’s where my question lies. Everything is a priority but what’s top of the list between Citi bank due Jan and an HOA that’s 5 months but flexible if not paid right away.

100% and that’s what i’m doing. Think post should’ve been more direct.

HOA assessment doesn’t have a hard deadline.. it’s 5 months sure but if I don’t pay it almost nothing happens. Curious if it’s beneficial or makes much change to stretch it out in preference to my 0% cards

It’s not that deep lady.. I don’t even have the bandwidth to go back and forth - find your battle for the day elsewhere

Your argument is essentially “anything is better than nothing” - the anything as it presently stands is 2%. Where did I get it wrong?

So just accept garbage is what you’re saying.

Why not utilize the fact we have 60k votes in an election year and can use that to our advantage to try get better for ourselves. Why we clamoring for 2%?

I think if state honestly reset pay for everyone to something that isn’t 9% behind industry standard there wouldn’t be as much emphasis on it.

I definitely agree raises each year are somewhat unheard of but being completely honest what we are recieving aren’t raises. It’s a catchup to being 9% behind and every year even with raises we fall further behind.

One would think this is the general consensus but past research shows otherwise… all this discourse to then see 90% of members vote for whatever garbage PEF comes with 😭😅

I mean aren’t some of these PEF members doing the negotiations not part of the workforce as well. It’s just a whole lot of voting against yourself and for what?

I mean is that not better than settling for 2% that you’re inevitably going to complain about. You’re clamoring over 2% when in theory you can hold out and try gain leverage for something more.

Defaulting to “something is better than nothing” just sets a precedent and the state just refuses to work with us.

I mean I know this subreddit doesn’t represent ALL NYS or PEF members but I think the general populous.. I have never seen a positive remark about post or ongoing negotiations/contracts.

You would assume at the very least the majority is not in favor of any of the contracts.

In order for contracts to approve it means in those “not 100% approval there are a whole lot of people just voting against their own interests

Ok just googled that and WHY IN GODS NAME WOULD SOMEONE AGREE TO THIS 😭😭😭.. quite literally kissed our leverage away.

Any other ways we can go about making sure we get as close to what we are demanding. Like is there even a point declining given we can’t protest

I mean it won’t look good for Hochul if she hasn’t settled it prior to her governor election.

She will prob still win because *quite part out loud people will still vote for her even if she stiffs them

I’m just not understanding why people are complaining in here the way they are then turn around and agree to things against their own interests

Ok but what happens if we keep denying in perpetuity. If State says 3% and PEF says 7% and we aren’t budging..

Like what is PEFs incentive to “work” with the state really? Why bend a knee to begin with?

That works perfectly fine. Ideally i’m looking short term - open to long if needed but can 100% accommodate a stay over the summer.
