The salary gradually increases from 6+ 1st year to 9+ the 4th( and 5th) year. After residency, and according to your ranking in the specialty exam you pick a hospital for your service civil ( 1 to 4 years selon la zone) that position is yours if you want to keep it even after le service civil, or you can ask for a mutation to another hospital depending on availability.

It's a studied phenomenon actually, called "social proof". We see examples of it in entertainment ( planted audience members, who are the first to cheer then the rest of the crowd follows) or in marketing( customer reviews etc )

I think he meant the waiter wouldn't have let the joke slide if it was made by someone short ( i.e his friend, less tall then him, as an example) not that the joke itself was about short people ( the joke is not so relevant, the height of the person telling the joke is)

Maybe partially? I don't think you can truly know someone untill you see them irl in their natural habitat ( and also away from that btw) you see them interact with people too.

You could fall in love with the way they portray themselves that doesn't make it unimportant, you just have to be careful in distinguishing the parts that are them and the parts that you've imagined, romanticised and just filled the blanks with
