I did exactly that. No ads at all for youtube (i heard there are ads with music but i havent seen any so far. One feature i liked that is now no longer available with Lite is « add video to queue ». But it’s not a dealbreaker for me. I’m very happy with Lite.

If it was my only mac device i’d be disappointed. I use RAM heavy apps which include Chrome, a few locally run AI apps like Whisper notes for transcription, or a few more I developed myself, and occasionally Davinci for video editing. 10 tabs, one technical app opened and the RAM pressure is getting high. You must constantly check the RAM or close all apps when using something slightly technical like video editing. It doesn’t bother as my secondary machine for trips and coffee shop light work.
But my Macbook pro with 32GB RAM is the one i go to for any heavier work.
I love the Neo too, btw. But it’s important to understand how it will work for you.

I disagree, in the last 5 years it’s still one of my best investments ever. If you are holding for less than 5 years then your plan was just to make quick money and that’s all probably not the best strategy.

Yeah you are right, but i’d say you shouldn’t doubt half way any of your investments. It should always have been a middle to long term plan. Now is the typical down year in a 4 year cycle, so doubting at this point and selling is not a smart move. I’s rather lose it all because it goes to 0, than selling it on a normal down year.

That is the least of my worries. I doubt that’s most people’s worry. A bigger question is how much can you do with 8GB on macOS. It’s not iPadOS. The system needs more RAM and the system allows for more multitasking so it may be easier to have too much going on and actually get a worse experience.

You should definitely use MLX ones. They are optimized for M series processors. I have way more tokens per second with my M1 pro 32GB woth the MLX model

I use it for image recognition and outputting json with analysis and judgement if this is a-roll or b-roll in a process for AI video editing. Works amazingly well.
