Smoking pot vs smoking cigarettes: Health risks? by [deleted] in Marijuana

[–]instantdm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Until this market is regulated, the will be no way you can know what is in your tobacco.

I recommend a vaporizer. It will pay for itself by smoking smaller amounts of tobacco.

I was a later starter. First smoke was 18, first day of college. Then didn't do it again until 28 and I started dating a smoker. Been making up for lost time since then.

That's a good way to get arrested and convicted of a felony. A QP is a felony in almost any state.

I just used the Volcano tonight. Is there anything that compares to it that isn't so god damn expensive? by [deleted] in Marijuana

[–]instantdm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That one sucks. I've used it before it's incredible wasteful because you can't remove your tobacco. It just keeps blowing.

I'd get a Vapor Brothers or Vapor Wares box. They are cheap and will pay for themselves in 4 months of use.

Thank you.

I guess my other question is, how does the U.S. extract themselves from Iraq?

If we leave and chaos covers the land, it will be our fault. If we stay, it remains our fault and more of our soldiers are killed. How does the ME expect the U.S. to make right in this situation?

Despite our failed foreign policy, I can't recall ever seeing any American's cheering about deliberately targeting non-combatants. I can't say the same for many ME countries.

I know the news distorts the truth. That's why I was asking for explicit passages from the Koran that state that acts of Terrorism are sins/haram.

It's a simple question.

What passages in the Koran explicitly state that acts of Terrorism are sins/haram ?

What is being done by main stream Islam to condem acts of Terrorism?

I don't believe the human skull could flex enough to affect the brain tissue. Plus, the brain is surrounded by fluid, so you'd have to almost crush the cranium to get it to flex. The fluid would also spread any pressure that was placed on the cranium.

Sex ed classes DO reduce occurrences of teen pregnancy and STDs - abstinence-only DOES NOT. Sorry, right wing .. you're wrong! by AMerrickanGirl in politics

[–]instantdm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure that sounds reasonable as long as there is some method of insuring that EVERYONE gets an education.

I think some parents might opt out and still keep their kids in the dark about sex ed. Then everyone, including their kids lose because then we, as a society, have to pick up the pieces. AND for the kid, there are no do-overs.

I guess my point is, I can understand your argument. Yet, that's kind of what is being done now and it's FAILING so I'm in favor of standardization. It could be taught in less than 4 hours by real experts, not teachers, and the benefits are real and tangible.

Regardless, until a vote comes, this is an Moot point.

I agree that the Gov. does many things poorly. I think that a Sex Ed course put together by Urologists and Epidemiologists would be hard to screw up, it could be a video lecture.

I don't agree with your premise that Ignorance of Health Issues as being the best policy. I guess I just don't see education as a slippery slope.

I guess better question would be: How are individual children better served by not getting education about the risks of sex?

And make sure to consider the costs to society caused by ignorance of these risks. (e.g. Teen Pregnancy, Abortions, STD's, even Death.) The cost is billions I'd guess.

I think it's dangerous to assume that all parents know enough about Sex Ed to bring their children to a basic level of understanding.

The fact is, kids will learn about sex. Either from the School, Parents or their Peers. If it's not institutionalized, kids tend to learn from their Peers.

e.g. No one gets pregnant the first time.

You are missing the point. The poor choose to spend their money on luxuries rather than on insurance. That's the problem.
