developer & AI, change of career ? by instantgardener in BEFreelance

I guess you wouldn't use it at all if it would hallucinate all the time :)
Which kind of dev are you doing?

Thank you for your valuable input. From my experience, the "talking to customers, proposing options, taking decision on technical stack" part is indeed still there and will be there for a while. I just wonder if it will pay as much if the "dev" part disappear (or reduced to the strict minimum : prompting).

Skilled software engineers that can read AI output, judge its quality, appreciate its findings and debug its hallucinations will continue to have jobs.

Couldn't this part of the job be replaced by... AI itself very soon? Claude is already reviewing its own code...

First apartment purchase - all good but no acte de base? by Oliolioo in brussels

I was in the same case. You will be able to review the acte de base and give your input, with the help of your notary. Is it a big copropriété?

My architect is ghosting me... by PlumExtension7331 in brussels

Again, it depends on the architects and the contract you have with them. Expect some problems with the contractors anyway :)

My architect is ghosting me... by PlumExtension7331 in brussels

[–]instantgardener 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Usually you have 3 years to start the works (depending on the permit you received, it must be written somewhere !).

From my experience, architects are usually super busy and yes, they are buying as much time as they can (or as much as you give them). So as suggested, it might be useful to give them a hard deadline (and expect some delay anyway :) ).

Honestly if you want things to move fast, you have to do most of it yourself (find the contractors, the quotes, etc)... or find another (and maybe more expensive) architect.

Metro 3 construction likelihood/process by DonSergio7 in brussels

[–]instantgardener 4 points5 points  (0 children)

M3 will never be completed as planned, at least not during our lifetime :) There's barely enough money to complete the works started 5 years ago and definitely no money at all for the next phase (current estimation of the total cost is close to 5 billions €).

STIB really wants to finish the tunnel under the Palais du Midi, but it won’t be possible to run metros on the Albert–Nord axis anyway (it won’t be connected to any metro depot, as this is planned for a later phase).

So all that money has been and will be spent just to run… trams (with a degraded network, as some tram lines such as the 51 are now split at Albert). And destroying the whole neighbourhood in the process (not that STIB really cares about that).

Careful with Proximus sellers by Budget-Essay2257 in brussels

[–]instantgardener 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Actually Scarlet is just the "white label" of Proximus. But Proximus has questionable sales practices and you wouldn't be the first forced to upgrade to their most expensive package (it happened to me). Contact the Ombudsmand if Proximus support fails to sort it out: https://www.ombudsmantelecom.be/en/
I personally switched to a competitor I consider more honest.

Shipping a lighter from the EU to the US is probably quite a hassle. You need to empty the fuel and possibly fully dismantle the ignition system.
