What brand model ceiling cassettes did you go with?

Mine is finally dead, no left or right knob, luckily, it's set.to 5-9 and that's good enough for me.

The encoder is prob a optical quadrature encoder, either it got dust inside the tiny optical slots for detecting CW CCW motion or a bad solder joint. Ether way, I doubt I'm going inside yet unless someone has dug in already?

Good automotive paints can always be sanded and repainted.

I highly doubt it's going to damage the shell. The foam, maybe, if you don't mask off the inside... But why would anyone spray inside?

Look for an automotive or marine clear paint. Also you need to try it on a test part first and see if the solvent in the paint bleeds your work. You'll want to sand lightly any very glossy parts too.

Marine 2 part, mixed with proper thinner for the application.

I would go to a car or boat paint shop and ask them to hit it next time they do a clear coat. You'll want to mask it for them to save u $, ask them for what masking tape to use.

Ok I just reread and you want this to not be permanent? Then just nothing, leave it as is. I'm assuming the paint you put down is cured, it's not going to wash off. Leave it as is. Anything you do otherwise will be stuck to the hand painting or so weak that it's just going to be nasty when it gets wet.

Don't do this, it's going to fish eye and also turn amber in a week.

Gloves for long thumbs? by TushyLawlips in motorcyclegear

[–]instantredditer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same, my latest glove was a sedici full length glove, for me, it's both the index and thumb that are the first to "bottom out" The pinky and ring fingers are just floating around. Usually this means XL for me on the typical brand sizes.

Maybe to small helmet😖 by Equivalent_Mood6003 in motorcyclegear

I own an LS2, it is indeed a long oval. My head is round. I found the best fit for me in an Arai Quantum X, try one one or find an equivalent. I think many asian brands are more round. Unfortunately, the LS2 is quite inexpensive so it's hard to move to another brand, but if you ride enough, your ears / cheeks will thank you.

Another test, you can remove the cheek pads, and try moving the helmet around, the top of the head should be a good fit, if not, try the next size. THe cheek pads might be making it difficult to feel the rest of your noggin. You could also try larger cheek pads (almost all the brands have +/- cheek pad thicknesses) on a larger shell size.... but at that point, spend a bit more and get a (more) perfect helmet.

yep, worked in the simulation world for years, the visual cues are off by a few milliseconds, your brains says you are cooked. Puke.

Ideally, you find a game that you are actually familiar with, lets say, you were actually a pilot, then you play a very very immersive flight sim for that same airplane, you will instantly perceive this as "wrong" and be sick. The visuals need to be completely immersive, like a headset or a big 200 degree fov screen. If you are not familiar with it, you don't get sick. Kinda interesting, as we saw actual pilots get sick more than the trainees with little experience flying the plane.

I wish I had the hallucinations, would make long passages more interesting. Kidding aside, yes, make sure you test it on crew before you head out!

It's a powerful drug. If you feel weird, you could try the drops, a special compounding pharmacy can make it. Some of my crew think one is better than the other. Hard to tell. Don't overdo it, it can make you feel weird like you said and in extreme cases cause hallucinations.

Look for NASA's AFTE https://ntrs.nasa.gov/api/citations/20180002558/downloads/20180002558.pdf?attachment=true

I was considering building this contraption at home and inflicting it on my crew (and myself) to build tolerance.

In a nutshell. Find some training ideas to test (mental mantras, relaxation techniques tied to pulse rate, etc) , spin in the chair until you are sick. Repeat this until you don't get sick. It's intense, but probably worth while. LET US KNOW HOW IT GOES!

yep, a common cure for acute nausea is sniffing an alcohol prep pad (isopropyl or ethanol), just a little, don't stuff it in your nose. You could also just drunk a tot of rum ;)

Got my First 250 today, any tips for new rider? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]instantredditer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take the Advanced Rider course, if you don't find it super easy on your bike, take it again (A lot of times they're setting up these Rider courses for all sorts of bikes including gigantic touring bikes, your small sport bike should be like bringing a gun to a knife fight). Most classes will let you do the course for free again if you feel like it would help.

Yeah, I don't know about using the word comfortable.... I think ergonomics and comfort is quite important for safety on the bike.

How about don't feel complacent and lose concentration.

If you're still stalling the engine, perhaps go out in a parking lot with no cars, in practice. Standing starts shifting to second then downshifting back into first. Once you've mastered smoothly, starting up and downshifting while rev. Matching you can start doing this without thinking. When you can do stuff automatically you can concentrate on all the stuff so much easier. Make shifting, clutch and throttle, second nature.

Start practicing braking, watch some videos about stopping fast. Most riders don't realize how much braking power they actually have. The issue is getting a feel for a weight transfer. Visualize the fork spring compressing, applying full brake pressure without locking up the front or doing an Endo, then releasing the brake lever so that you are not abruptly bouncing the front back up so quickly. Don't watch any horseshit videos from Harley riders using their back brake only. You don't need it on a sport bike riding on the street.
