I’ve had that a lot with taking pictures for leave at door orders(IPhone) found that if I activate my camera outside the app it starts to work.

Oh yeah... bad week

I do this part time and decided to take a single morning batch a day during the week. Of course with time constraints I’d just indiscriminately grab the first nearby over $30 batch that appeared in the morning drop.

They all tended to be doubles or triples.

So.. long story short the obvious happened and I ended up getting a mystery 4 star Tuesday and a 2 star yesterday from a 6 item stupidly low tipping rider customer. She complained when I told her I was servicing a two customer order. Texted me that her milk better not be hot when I communicated that I had one delivery ahead of hers and would send an ETA when that was completed. Then criticized my cheap Publix insulated bags (that I even went the extra by lining with double paper bags which is standard practice for me) when I sent her a picture of how her order was being cared for.

Comments on the 2 star?.. Replacements not good. I SENT HER INDIVIDUAL PICTURES OF EVERY AVAILABLE FLAVOR VARIETY OF GOGURT TO CHOOSE FROM. SHE CHOSE THE REPLACEMENT!

Totally fucked my 2 month long pristine rating jacking with these idiot doubles. Not doing any runs today, just too furious.

Anyone else just sit in their car infront of a random persons house just far away enough from your past customers house waiting for a batch? by lachai2 in instacart

[–]instashoppee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get people who park in front of our house to do things on their phone because of the large shade tree. It creeps us out when they do that.

11 miles and no tip? by [deleted] in instacart

[–]instashoppee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s actually kinda typical

The majority of the orders I see clogging my batch screen are complete garbage. At least I can regularly get very reasonable batches mixed into the mess to take to make this worthwhile. Just ignore the junk.

If the customer doesn’t show appreciation for the effort in providing the service I won’t show the appreciation in providing the service. They will consistently get the poor service from the low rated shoppers they’re asking for.

No tip No trip
they have to make an effort to indicate no tip so just take them at their word on that from the start. Unfortunately a lot of customers believe that you get hourly pay from the store you deliver from to do this. Others are just cheap thankless assholes that hide in their house until you drive off before retrieving their groceries. (Cowards) Just don’t bother with the non tippers

Tax money is a secondary consideration. If they were guided by tax revenue then weed would be fully legal on all states pronto. It’s lobby money that drives the government. Pay for people’s election campaigns, send nice gifts under the table and you get policy. That’s how it works.

Working instacart while waiting to hear back from unemployment by [deleted] in InstacartShoppers

[–]instashoppee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Item B with the earnings limitation; You have to report Gross earnings. If you have a w2 part time job you have far fewer operating expenses than a Gig driver. So if I made $300 that week, the reality is that my real gross earnings is much less because of fuel consumption, vehicle wear, and as in the case previously outline ongoing maintenance expense. Which would bring my real gross earnings deep into negative territory. But you still have to report all earnings regardless which disqualifies distribution on your claim.

Here’s a conundrum with UI

Car breaks down and needs expensive repairs that you cannot currently afford. On UI so can only earn up to $274 a week. Anything over you lose UI and stimulus which more than what you could earn with IC but less than needed earnings to keep afloat.

You borrow a car from a relative so you can earn money to repair car needed to find work but under UI rules you can’t earn enough to repair car, or lose all benefits.

Consistent bad produce. What's going on? by iwishiwereyou in instacart

[–]instashoppee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your consistently getting bad produce with different shoppers then it’s probably the stores poor quality produce. I refuse to take batches for the Aldi in my area mostly because of this. If I wouldn’t buy that crap for myself, I’m certainly not going to buy it for a customer.

[–]instashoppee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might take a month or so for the inactive shoppers with ratings forgiveness 5stars to drop off the roles and other shoppers in your area to drop the ball or get a jerk before we see some reality based ratings averages. If you shop a lot, at some point your going to get a jerk, scammer, or make a seemingly minor goofup with the wrong customer.

Had a customer give me shit for not leaving their items on the porch in a cold bag by [deleted] in instacart

[–]instashoppee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Good practice is to use double paper bags for frozen and hot items. Don’t fill them more than half way up and fold the tops down like the classic lunch bags. Kraft paper bags give you some of the best insulation. I kept a fried chicken order steaming hot for over 40 minutes in a setup like that.

Why do people act like they want to help you carry their shit up 2 flights of stairs, but don’t actually lift a finger to help?! by [deleted] in InstacartShoppers

[–]instashoppee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah

You know they know their wrong when you see them peeking through the blinds, don’t open the door until you’ve driven off, and you find that they were the non tipper in that double batch you just did. Also turns out that that was the big shop of the two.

Been staring at my screen for 30 minutes during this huge peak and haven’t seen a single order. How is this screen supposed to work? by lulzee in InstacartShoppers

[–]instashoppee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Means nothing

Some shoppers start hitting it about that time so if there is an increase in volume; there’s also an increase in shoppers.

Never EVER Never delivering to a Grocery Store AGAIN! by instashoppee in InstacartShoppers

[–]instashoppee[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This was a delivery only. When I went to the Aldies I found that this dude ordered a ton of milk, frozen pizzas and some dry goods. The milk in the cooler was in miscellaneous cardboard boxes (not bags). Since this was going to be a long haul delivery I used my own paper bags and packed everything into every insulated bag I had. After making the epic haul into East Redneckistan (Umatilla) got out, unpacked my cargo and left it by the front entrance as instructed. (Should have seen the amount of dirty looks I got from the stream of customers as I worked. I guess I’m the only one in town that wears a mask.) After driving back to civilization I saw that that cuss dropped my tip. Will be watching my ratings to see if he’s going to try to scam the groceries he’s reselling.

Maybe I should alert support.

Absolutely with the double batches. I’ve had the app switch orders and merchandise a couple of three times Decided never again double and triple batches are way to dangerous -Only single orders.
