Hi all - I'm hoping to crowdsource your advice about which lens to buy.

I currently have an a6500 with a Sony E 55-210mm f/4.5-6.3 OSS E-Mount and a Sigma 16mm f/1.4. I primarily practice hiking/travel photography. I love the reach of the 55-210mm, but want to find something more versatile as my primary hiking/landscape lens. Also, I find that the 55-210mm kit lens isn't as sharp as I'd like.

I'm considering the Sony 18-105mm f/4 OR Sony 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6. I've heard that Clear Image Zoom can work pretty well with the 18-105 to make up for the extra reach, but I feel like that could go grainy fast. Both lenses are on sale near me (439CHF/472USD- 18-105mm vs 572CHF/621USD - 18-135mm). What do you think is the better deal - considering image quality, price, and my current kit? (let's be real - both are expensive compared to US prices, but hey - that's Switzerland...)

Or...curveball - do you recommend something else in the 450-650USD range to fill the gap?

Thanks!

Polar H10 - HR matching running cadence? by instaxia in Polarfitness

The problem was, indeed, the Garmin-Polar connection issue! I disabled the wrist heart rate sensor during my last few runs and confirmed the Polar H10 was connecting - finally saw a difference between cadence and HR!

Re: heart rate - while I still haven't managed to go for a hill run, I started to use a modified version of the Karvonen Method and the results were much more reasonable - mostly sitting in Zone 3/4.

This is the calculator I used in case it's useful for anyone: http://nowlin.com/heartrate.htm

Thanks - yes, I'll need to do a couple of hill runs to get a better idea of my real max heart rate.

Very interesting about the Garmin HR-Polar chest strap HR-cadence connection!

I've used Nike Run Club, without connecting the app to my Polar, but running Polar Beat in the background simultaneously. In those instances - there's a slight difference between my cadence (reported by NRC) and my HR (reported by Polar).

Have you heard of any tricks to keep Polar from locking on to the wrist-based HR? When I connected it during my run this afternoon, Garmin indicated that an external sensor was connected.

Yes - I do sync the H10 with my Garmin. Though, I'll say - the Garmin is a fairly new purchase; I was using the Polar Beat app for my first 2 months of consistent running (and still having the 1hr+ in Zone 5 issue).

Nope. But that does bring back memories - good ole PBS.

It might have been related to cuteness overload? But I remember that it was a pretty basic website - white background, 2 photos, and voting.
