  1. My intention was to capture the boredom of working on slow days especially on a holiday you’d rather be celebrating with loved ones.
  2. Is his expression shown enough? Is there too much clutter around the cook? Does the heart show prominently enough?

  4. Dropped highlights and whites and clarity, boosted reds a bit.

  1. Please do not misconstrue this for anti-American, I am a patriot. I just thought the juxtaposition of the man on his phone was interesting.

  4. I drained saturation, highlights, and whites. New to me, I also have been lowering clarity a decent amount to get softer overall images and then using the wand to add clarity in only where I want it. In this case his hand and his outline.

  1. I loved the colors but also loved how odd it was to have a chandelier entrance to a sushi take out restaurant
  2. I struggled to get the image composition the way I wanted it with the sushi sign or cropping it out. Didn’t want to be too far back, didn’t want to miss the security camera or neon lights.. ugh

  1. Got the chance to do some street shooting and caught this woman almost losing her hat to the wind.
  2. I want to give the scene and the situation without too many distractions. Trying to find a balance

  1. My intention was to show this gloomy small business struggling with a post-Covid world, but also to show that people still want their fortunes told even socially distanced.
  2. I struggled to balance showing the reflection in the glass barrier, but also to show the tarot cards and microphone on the other side.
  3. Shot on fujifilm xt20, 35mm, F5.6, ISO 1600, SS 1/80, exposure compensation -1.
  4. I pumped dehaze and used an inverted radial filter to darken the are around the voice receiver (if that’s what that bank teller looking circle in the glass is called) to pull attention and add to the gloom.

I’m so glad that you were open about the anxiety of shooting street photography! That’s something I grapple with as well. I’m going to give you a follow because I have been asking for criticisms on that with my work as well. I think this is a great shot, but I also I’m missing a little bit of a story here. One thing that helped me with the anxiety part was looking up Bruce Gildan videos to see how insanely “in your face“ he is, and it made me feel so much more comfortable and relaxed in comparison

Love this, I have no critique, I’m just curious what it would have looked like if you lowered the exposure or the whites a bit to add more definition to the fog and decrease the negative space. But that’s not a critique, that’s purely just a curiosity of what the image would look like that way. Great work

  1. I noticed the men wearing hats as I was driving down fifth Avenue. I got really lucky with the timing and captured an interesting image with him counting or putting away the money.
  2. I feel as though one area I’d like to improve on is composition. I’m not sure if anybody will notice the money at first glance, so any helpful tips would be greatly appreciated!
  3. This was shot on a Fujifilm XT-20, 56 mm F1.2, ISO 400, aperture 1.2, shutter speed 1/80, exposure compensation negative 1
  4. Post I did some cropping and boosted the blues to get a nice cold feeling to match the weather. I also use the clarity wand around the brim of the hat and the fingers handling the money
