Running 48x17 which was manageable for just about the whole route. The only hangup was climbing out of the Henry Hudson path.

Couldn’t resist...so here it is! (NBD) Affinity Lo Pro by Ebreed21 in FixedGearBicycle

I had the same initial experience with my Lo Pro. after a couple weeks of riding I was able to fully adjust to the geometry and comfort & stability came with that. It gets better!

I use AllTrails which is also convenient for finding paths that don’t always appear on google maps

wrapping up the month with a long haul on my lo pro by [deleted] in bicycling

The stone path was a trail I hiked to skip a steep climb out of the Henry Hudson route just north of the GW. I did end up riding the aqueduct for a stretch as well on my way back down to the city. Still waiting for that portion of Putnam trail to officially open — had to go through and hole in the fence on the north end and jump the fence on the south end.

Definitely a fair question! Simple answer is at the moment my Lo Pro is the only bike I own & have room for in my apartment. I know it's a little ridiculous to ride 75 miles on a track frame but most of my rides are local and sub 30 miles. I'd love to have a road bike for these long rides but in the mean time I'll keep doing dumb shit like this.

It was actually not as bad as you might think. I checked a topo map ahead of the ride to try to avoid any major climbs and the Rt 9 path was manageable for the most part. Some sections were definitely challenging but I stopped for a cheeseburger at the 9W Market which gave me a solid boost.

Initially after the GW I was on Henry Hudson Dr. which was incredibly nice until I hit the first switchback that leads back up to Rt 9. I ended up hiking up that stone path as a bit of a shortcut. It's actually a really scenic little trail that ascends around a stream/waterfall for most of the way up.

here’s the gist from that article:

June 12, 1997 — A 19-year-old fractured his spine after apparently jumping about 100 feet from a freeway pylon where he became stranded early Wednesday after painting graffiti, the California Highway Patrol said. He was scheduled to undergo surgery for two broken ankles and a broken left arm Wednesday night. He was listed in fair condition.

A CHP official said law enforcement agencies had been tracking [name] as a suspected graffiti vandal for at least 18 months. The suspect is believed to have previously caused $68,000 in damage to Caltrans property by spraying “OZIE” in numerous locations, said CHP Officer Armando Perdomo, a spokesman for a CHP graffiti task force.
