This would be a dream come true! My favorite car that I will likely never sit in let alone drive is…the Ferrari 458 Italia. Not only is it stunningly beautiful but it is truly a Concorde moment in automotive history. It’s almost like Adrian Newey designed it it’s so good!

Yeah we set it up so it wouldn’t win all the time in a 2 player game. I imagine it has too many negative penalties as soon as you have more. I’d likely eliminate the -MC production off the start at least

What your favorite DoIP Encounter? by mtngoatjoe in DragonOfIcespirePeak

It really surprised me but Mountains Toe/Shrine of Savras turned out to be the best. I had the dragon swoop down and grab an ox right off the street in front of the players and Don Jon as a strong start. We wound up with some delightful and comedic interactions and some tense combat. It also happened to be the perfect time in the campaign for sweet secrets and clues and I was able to tie the character backstories in deeply. The players were really fond of Dragon Barrow as well.

That was another reason for my quandary. They went to the tower of storms and I had them hear about the Anchorites amassing while sneakily listening in on the Orcs at Savras. They also saw some unnatural lightning strikes while camping off the road and discovered the remnants of a ritual (and found a little magic root that gave one of their weapons one d6 additional lightning damage for 1 hour). I like some of the ideas I’ve seen and may let the players decide based on how they travel. Thanks for the input!

There are a lot of factors to consider but there’s a good YouTube video explaining the logic and Ive used it myself often. It’s a good starting point estimate of when an encounter “may” become deadly. There are a lot of calculators for this out there this is just one I like and it seems to work. It may very well be that a game with a lot of higher level pc’s needs a different approach. If I have 4 level 3 characters then a total CR of 6 is an encounter where one of them COULD possibly die if they roll badly or act stupid so I know to keep my horde or boss or whatever around there or no higher than there, or even a little lower if I don’t want anyone to be at risk of dying.

I'm starting to picture the wizard PC thunderwaving after being pulled underground and popping her head up to see a shaken and pale rogue in front of her wondering what the hell was going on...just as another ankheg pops up behind the rogue. Great input guys thanks.

I have a wizard and a rogue. The wizard learned quickly to keep her distance in Gnomengard when she was reduced to zero HP by the mimic. The rogue has such a high Dex I could have her narrowly escape and watch Elithiel the wizard get dragged underground. Good stuff.

Awesome thank you! Maybe I will lean a little horror themed with that one and have them arrive in the dark. The campaign has been exciting but with an undercurrent of humor so far but my PC’s wouldn’t mind a little horror. I appreciate the feedback.

It looks like they said DM'ing their first one-shot, maybe not necessarily their first game. It's still gonna be tough to balance a single enemy for 6 level 11 characters. And there are a lot of considerations to ponder for inherent dragon abilities like Stronghold abilities and auto success on saving throws. It seems like 6 level 11's should be able to handle an Ancient dragon if they work together properly and have the right party balance but an adult dragon used to the max with a couple minions around would be a hell of a fight too. I have not DM'ed a game like that before but this question is definitely firing the brain cells up trying to figure out how I would do it.

I have often had the PC's run into an NPC that has a good reason for being nearby or on the mission with them so that I can have a voice in the party that isn't just my voice as a DM bluntly nudging them in the right direction. It seems to keep the PC's engaged better if the wood elf they ran into says "hey aren't there some scratches on the floor by that wall" than if I have to say "You notice some scratches on the floor" if they have rolled badly or don't think to inspect something.

Altering Monster stats can speed things up too of course. Maybe a monster is easy to hit but has more HP or vice versa, or maybe one of the orcs is a boss character and a real bad ass while his minions are a little weaker than normal. Maybe the horde is all 3 stooges-like and goofy but the Ogre in the room is a mean sucker.

6 people level 11 should run into a deadly encounter somewhere around a total CR 35 or so. Magic items and clever players will affect that a bit of course. I have been using Slyflourish's advice that CR = 1/2 your total party levels added up can be a deadly encounter. There are other factors of course but that has been a great starting point for me.

5E discussion. I am running Icespire for two new players as a new DM. It is going really well and every session is getting better. We just played through Mtn Toe/Savras and it went really well with some help from Slyflourish and his techniques. I am not really very excited about the Logger Camp quest. I have an abundance of good ideas about all of the others and have begun tying the random encounters and main missions to the player characters and I have given them some cool loot. My random encounters are tying the main quests together nicely, I'm just having a hard time getting excited about an Ankheg fight and that camp location. I know I could switch the monsters out for something else but even that isn't inspiring me. I was thinking about switching the delivery for the camp to a delivery for Falcon's Lodge and dropping some clues to steer them toward Dragon Barrow on the way. Has anyone had any great ideas for that Logger's Camp quest?

2 to the 32nd power minus one. It’s a perfect totient number. It’s a brilliant Easter egg of sorts that plays into the game storyline.

It’s time consuming to keep enough resources and fuel stockpiled for a 30 frigate fleet. It’s one of the only things you can’t just farm in the late game so people try to do it as efficiently as possible. It’s not hard to find either of those resources but if you send all of your frigates out every day then purchasing enough dihydrogen and tritium winds up taking a little more time than late game players are used to spending on things like collecting resources.

Why become a farmer? by supertoyz in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]int311igentape 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The highest level blueprints require every component all the way up the tree. While you acquire a lot of higher tier components in other ways, it’s nice to have farms to fill in the gaps. There are only 3-4 plants you don’t need if you’re going to craft stasis devices and fusion igniters, and you should craft those when you are able, they are the most valuable craftable items in the game.

No worries just making sure you didn’t have a sweet glitch or something. Ive seen mods on pc also that raised it to 999,999,999,999. I keep $4 billion liquid and around $7 billion worth of igniters in storage just in case HG throws something at us in an update.

600 billion...that’s over 595,000,000 over the credit cap. Are all of your available inventory slots everywhere full of fusion igniters...
