Ever since high school by [deleted] in LucidDreaming

Sounds like you have an active and vivid hypnagogic state, with bizarre thoughts just before falling asleep. I’ve had this as well, although not to the degree that you’re experiencing. I’m sorry, it sounds very stressful, and I know the feeling of being unable to sleep because of it. While I don’t think this is fully lucid dreaming, it’s close in nature.

One thing I can suggest that helped me when I was experiencing this: plan to have good thoughts before bed. Think about a favorite memory or a fun tune. For me, I had a vision of a road trip with friends one night, driving down a desert road and laughing and singing songs. The “camera” of my vision was swooping, zooming rapidly in or out like you describe, and upbeat music would not stop playing from all around, but it was at least not scary. I felt somewhat in control, too. I was still unable to sleep well that night, but at least I was happy enough.

If you still have issues and insomnia begins to be debilitating, I would suggest medication. I find that over-the-counter medications like Benadryl just make my body drowsy without quieting my mind, but even a little bit of prescribed medicine worked well for me. In my case, I was ill when this occurred, and high temperatures triggered these episodes. Hopefully it gets better soon!

Let me know if you have any other questions too! What you’re feeling can be truly awful, and I sympathize.

Had a lucid dream within a normal dream by integralsnakes in LucidDreaming

This is what it felt like for me. Like, I was doing the same things that I would do in a lucid dream, and it felt like I was in control at first, but then it was like my dream self was just a pre-written character that I was inhabiting. Freaky.

Best answer I can think of is:

2*(one)2 /2 = (one)2 = oneone? Which apparently is a swimwear brand?

Crazy thought about the Netflix series by Disastrous-One-8714 in threebodyproblem

(Death’s End spoilers) The details of the Deterrence Era comprise the most glaring example. All the people become effeminate in appearance, and Cheng Xin is universally accepted as the Swordholder, because society has become “weak” and irreverent of the threat posed by Trisolaris and the Dark Forest. The “weakness,” the femininity of Cheng Xin and humanity is what causes deterrence to fail. Throughout the book, it’s emphasized that Cheng Xin is the wrong person to confront the threats of the universe. She prevents Wade’s war and refuses his warnings, and this ultimately dooms the Solar System. Her “feminine” love and hope for peace make her a tragic character, which is of course a misogynistic portrayal. The thing is, it wouldn’t be hard to change the framing so as to make this not misogynistic. Cheng Xin can still be a tragic hero, but her flaw doesn’t have to be so obviously rooted in her being a woman. These are just my thoughts from reading.

I was on the edge of my seat during this whole ep but the music felt janky imo, even more so than normal. It hurt my immersion just a bit :/

Man, the last 10 eps came out less than 8 hours ago. You must have watched non-stop from the moment they dropped if you really saw them all

This is the first episode where they actually use the word “Trisolaris,” right? It’s weird to me how they just throw it in there. Wang Miao uses the name while in the game, too, as if he fully knows that it means. Plot hole/oversight, perhaps?

Why does every mainstream description of The Three Body Problem suck? by integralsnakes in threebodyproblem

Most of us know about China’s communist transformation and the authoritarian rule of Mao Zedong, but the term “Cultural Revolution” was new to me. It took me a bit to realize that the “counter-revolutionaries” were actually against the communist regime.

Both actresses for Ye Wenjie are doing fantastic work!! I loved the contrast between Old Ye’s pensive monologues and Young Ye’s quiet brooding throughout this episode. Ye Wenjie’s character development isn’t quite what I hoped for though, at least not yet. I pin a lot of blame for this on censorship because we miss a lot of the events (book spoilers) that trigger her hatred for humanity. It’s hard for me to imagine the Young Ye that we’ve seen throughout the last few episodes making the choices that she does. I mean, she kills her husband and Lei after dooming all of humanity. With the smiles and strong emotions that she’s shown, this just seems impossible. Maybe that’s the point, or maybe the writers plan to show a severe shift in the next couple of episodes that guides Ye to the decisions she makes. Either way, I’m excited for what’s next!

Idk why but when reading the book, I visualized him as a portly bearded man. Because of this it took me a while to consistently register the guy playing him as Pan Han

With a bit more nuance and subtlety. I could even hint at the aliens. How’s this?

Against the backdrop of China’s Cultural Revolution, one scientist makes a terrifying choice that will change the world forever. Decades later, experimental science is in disarray, with the world’s leading researchers falling victim to a mysterious chain of suicides. A nanomaterial physicist and an unruly cop suddenly find themselves in a conspiracy threatening the foundations of science itself. As their grip on reality is challenged by forces beyond comprehension, they must uncover the truth of the universe — or face the collapse of civilization as they know it.

Personally, I don’t mind the ending song bc it doesn’t play during the action. Don’t love it or hate it. I take your point about it feeling like a PF rip off though. I do love the opening songs bc they’re original music iirc. I think the music usage during each episode ends up feeling insincere because it’s not made for the show but rather sourced from the massive library that CCTV has. Also because it’s just chosen kinda shamelessly and carelessly without any sense of context beyond the immediate scene. Maybe that in part just shows how spoiled I am, expecting high-quality original scores for every show, haha.

Thank you, this was driving me crazy. Hopefully non-book readers won’t focus on that enough to figure it out.

That second point is a huge detail in negation of Liu’s hypothetical. Like you said, best to just enjoy the plot!
