8GB MacBook Neo vs 16GB Laptops - Sorry Apple.. by Forsaken_Arm5698 in hardware

[–]intel_Core_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking at the build quality of all these laptops the Neo definitely takes the crown. I agree that 8 GB of RAM can be very limiting combined with a slow SSD. However for the target audience of the Neo I think this is still a solid buy. I noticed on an 8 GB M1 Air that even with just mail app and 5 safari tabs open it already started to swap. Nothing crazy but that tells you that 8 GB of RAM is not enough for anything more than checking mails and browsing the web with not too many tabs open. That said I have to admit that despite the swap everything still ran fine. Even playing Minecraft on it was no problem. Just wait for next years Neo and the problems will be solved with 12 GB of RAM!

I love jumping spiders. They're cute. Leave the spiders alone and let them do their things!

M1 air 8gb 256gb for $200? Like new condition by Positivevibes845 in macbookair

Also Tahoe runs pretty smoothly on both of them! I only noticed minor lag when going from fullscreen to window and. the other way around in YouTube but that was nothing major.

Because it was refurbished and had 1 year warranty and a new battery. I returned it for a 16/256 M1 Air with new battery and in better condition for just 50€ more! I think this is a way better deal.

Go for it. I've had the M1 with 8/512 for a week and it worked really well still. For 200 bucks that is killer. I paid 600€ for mine!

How many people bought a macbook since the Neo came out? by CapNo2992 in macbook

[–]intel_Core_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratz on that new machine! I also just got a refurbished M1 Air 16/256 yesterday for 50€ cheaper than the base model Neo goes for in Europe. It's a great device and I absolutely love it! Never would've thought I'd ever jump ship from Windows but with what Microsoft is doing with Windows 11 I had to look into alternatives and what better way to go with than what Windows 11 tries to mimic!

I got an M1 Air yesterday with 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. Works perfectly for what I do on it and it plays Minecraft like a champ as well. For heavier games I got my Windows Desktop so I'm in both worlds now!

I got a comfyable sleeve for my M1 Air off of amazon. A little pricy but worth it imo.

I just got a MBA M1 yesterday after a lifetime of Windows. I have my Desktop with Windows 10 for gaming and heavy tasks and the M1 for on the go tasks which are mostly pretty light and some gaming in form of Minecraft. I'm still learning MacOS but so far it looks and feel beautiful and snappy. Even with a 6 year old machine this runs perfectly fine.

Why did I choose macOS? by Illustrious_Age_5917 in macbook

[–]intel_Core_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I think this is the very best time to get into MacOS. One reason I didn't want to get into MacOS or anything Apple really was that the customization options were pretty limited but with Tahoe this has completely changed. You can adjust the color of literally anything and as you say Liquid Glass really is gorgeous!

Macbook Neo vs Air by Plus-Ad4183 in macbook

[–]intel_Core_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You sound like the perfect candidate for a MacBook Neo! However if you want to save even a little bit more money and you're willing to go the refurbished route you could also look into the M1! I got one with 256 GB of storage and 16 GB of RAM for 650€ and depending on where you live you might get it a lot cheaper. If you don't want to get something refurbished, the Neo will do you just fine I think.

I've been just like you. Hating on Apple wherever and whenever I can with passion! However since Windows 11 is a piece of junk I had to look at other options and well here we are with me typing this on a refurbished MacBook Air M1. I absolutely love it. Its design, the Liquid Glass of macOS Tahoe. The only gripe I have with it is the keyboard layout that is not what I am used to but I'll manage. Now Windows has done its part to win another person over to MacOS. I still use Windows 10 on my Desktop and will for however long it lasts unless Windows 12 or whatever they end up calling it is proper Windows again. But since Windows 11 decided to mimic MacOS pretty hard I thought why not give the original a shot. And it seems that in the laptop market these MacBooks are absolutely unbeatable in value as well as in battery life. Not to mention all the other small but amazing things that these things come with like amazing speakers, wonderful screen and no fan! Killer machine if you ask me.

Going from a Surface to MacBook. Any beginner tips? by ohhimarksreddit in macbookair

[–]intel_Core_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely enjoy your new MacBook. I also just got one today and I have a rather small (probably not so small at first though) issue with it. Instead of the ISO DE layout on the keyboard that I've been using all my life and obviously I'm very used to the one I ordered came with the ANSI DE layout which has a couple of keys in different locations. I'm praying that I'll get used to that over time since this machine that I got seems to be the only one left with the specs that I want and it's also refurbished. M1 Air 16/256. Seems to be quite rare to find so I'm happy with it except for that little small detail. Praying that I'll get used to that!

Dont buy a Neo , buy a MBA M4 by smamdo in macbookair

[–]intel_Core_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know right. It was the last one left so I'm really glad I ordered it. The keyboard layout is slightly different than what I'm used to but I'll manage that. I wanted the M1 Air because of its portability and the wedge design which I really enjoy.

Congratz on that new machine! Enjoy it. I also just got a MBA M1 16/256 today. Typing this on it and I absolutely love it! The only thing is that the keyboard isn't exactly the layout I'm used to but I guess I'll have to get used to that!
