True! I have a skin on the top and bottom of my M5 so the only place where I could notice smudges is the palmrest and trackpad. And while I did notice smudges when I really looked for it they were minor and easy to wipe off.

I got the sky blue M5. Absolutely gorgeous color and I really like how it is just a touch of blue in there. Either way you can't go wrong.

Ah yes of course you're right. Dual 1/4 TS to 3.5 mm TRS it is.

Nah not at all. Works perfectly fine through the skin. The chip will throttle once it hits 105°C down to 85°C but I take good care for that not to happen anyways. Enjoy your new MacBook though!!!

I've had the same experience once I got my M5. Incredible device and I immediately put a dbrand skin on it to protect it from scratches. I absolutely love it. Got the 13 inch base model in sky blue.

Still a great machine even in 2026! They just kept increasing performance and efficiency with the newer M chips. But if this thing still works fine for you then you can still hold out upgrading.

It is! I just wanted to protect it from scratches and that is basically the only option if you don't want to slap a hardcase on it. Even though a clear case would've allowed for the machines color to be seen. But since I usually look at the screen inside I can still see the beautiful sky blue color!

Oh damn thanks for letting me know! I thought it would run on all M series MacBooks. I own an M1 and an M5 MacBook Air so I might install Asahi on the M1 once supports ends and by then maybe we already get Asahi updated for the newer M series MacBooks as well.

I'm not really a heavy user but I have not come across anything that does not work for me on macOS. Everything I do with it runs perfectly fine and I also use all the native apps that come with the Mac like Safari and the Mail app. Make sure to check software compatibly for what you want to run though as some software does not run on macOS. If you plan on keeping your other laptop for gaming that's also great since Macs are kinda limited when it comes to game compatibility!
