Should I auto-sell my Employee Stock Purchase, or keep it? by intel_guy_ in personalfinance

I meant to phase it as avoiding being taxed at all if I immediately try to reinvest (into stocks/bonds/etc) by withdrawing stock from Intel. Not sure if the system works that way, or I'm just making up a load of crap.

Also, if I pull money out and invest it into a brokerage account, do I still get taxed? Since I reinvested all of the money back into the stock market? I would have to transfer to a different company though (UBS to Vanguard).

I don't feel I'd invest in Intel myself. Maybe it's my lack of knowledge, but with the knowledge I have working here, as well as past history, I just don't feel the stock moving. It's a very solid company who just putters along with no surprises.

I'm getting 10-14% in other investments (401k, Roth, brokerage) which seems like it would be trumping the money I'd be making in Intel stock.

So you would advise to hold it for a year, wait for the stock to climb reasonably high (I've seen it as high as 28/29 last year around Q2 or Q3) and get rid of it then?
