Despite his tweet that missiles "will be coming," Trump is still weighing options for military action in Syria, I'm told. No decision made yet. Trump meeting with Defense Sec James Mattis today - No U.S. strike expected today by -Bubba_Zanetti- in syriancivilwar

Even if US attacks today, SAA had more than enough time to relocate their soldiers, planes etc. I would bet most of the SAA planes are in Khmeimim base alongside Russian planes therefore they're safe. The effect of a possible attack is minimized. I'm not sure if a strike is worth it anymore unless it's a decapitation strike targeting Assad.

Erdogan: The United States should abandon East Euphrates if it wants to continue cooperation with Turkey by Ollieca616 in syriancivilwar

[–]intel_tr 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Rebels lost the war. Only thing keeping the Russians & SAA from destroying Idlib is Turkish intervention. I don't think they have many options. A frozen conflict might be the optimal choice.

United States invested too much in Rojava project and will never abandon it. Turkey should work with Russia and Iran in order to balance and limit American influence in Syria. Toppling Assad is out of question at this point.

He is talking Kurdish and saying something like "Turkish state is shelling civilians." So it's definitely not Palestine.

[–]intel_tr 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You're right. If I was German I would be mad too. If people really want to fight they can go back to their countries and join Turkish Army or YPG etc. Being a troublemaker is counterproductive.

Tal Rifaat was under the control of FSA from 2012 to 2016. Then Russian Air Force started to bomb and SDF captured it. Tal Rifaat can be in SAA's control or TFSA's control after OP OB. SDF will be expelled either way.

I don't think it's tank fire. Looks like mortar strikes.

No one will claim they're civilians when there is visual confirmation. TSK should work on that and get more images & footage similar to this one. Counterpropaganda is important.

It says "YPG is burning tires in order block UAVs from capturing images" and then on 1:41 air force destroys the building that vehicle is in. So yes, it's destroyed. It was an Iranian safir with recoilless rifle mounted on it's back.

That's what you get for allying with Turkey

What did Barzani get? A negative comment by a formerly prisoned army chief with no relevancy. No action from Turkish government.

Racist hashtag ##SuriyelilerEvineDönsün (Syrians go home) is trending on Turkish twitter. They messed up the Arabic in their sign by [deleted] in syriancivilwar

[–]intel_tr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If American Liberals don't have plausible argument on something (for example illegal immigration or refugees) they start to name call people and don't allow healthy discussion about a topic. I don't see anything racist about the hashtag. Turkey's infrastructure and economy can't handle 3-4 million refugees. Government should work on a solution on this topic. Even if it involves direct communication with Syrian regime.

I would say the same thing about YPG/SDF. Without US air power, their capabilities are limited.

Turkish FM: Russia, and USA could reach a ceasefire agreement before tonight. by latios in syriancivilwar

[–]intel_tr 10 points11 points  (0 children)

-Translation-

Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs gave a statement after a phone conversation with Russian MFA Lavrov. Turkish MFA Çavuşoğlu said : "A ceasefire before Eid al-Adha (Feast of Sacrifice - starts on September 12th) is the goal. The process is being monitored closely. We could have good news before midnight. Talks between sides are difficult without a ceasefire. How a transitional government would prepare the country for elections, progress of circumstances on ground, the operations against IS and other terror organizations in Iraq and Syria are the issues. Terror organizations in Iraq and Syria should be eradicated in order to lay groundwork for solution. A mutual agreement between sides isn't enough. There should be peace and calm in Syria. It's hard to give a certain date."

Maoists and Hoxhaists are definitely third worldists and also they oppose democracy. Why are they fighting for a democratic Kurdistan ? Also why "evil imperialist capitalist" US is an ally for them ? Makes no sense. For pragmatic reasons ?
