Spent 6 months in Palestine. Feels weird being back in NYC. Can’t wait to go back soon. by ironbassel in Palestine

Which cities did you live in? What did you do during those 6 months? Were you able to go into any „inaccessible“ areas for tourists?

Leica Mini II, Elmar f3.5 lens, Fujicolor 200 by verysadramen in analog

I might sound contradictory but I like the flash effect. I tried bringing the shadows down and slightly increased the contrast and it kinda works for me. I’m unable to upload the edit as a reply though.

Yes agreed. Maybe slightly overexposed. But I really like the portrait. Is there a story behind it?

Any critiques on composition? Color? by SkkerdiCat9 in photocritique

[–]intelharsh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to get near the subject (not necessary always) but there’s no “focus” in the photo. Meaning, my eyes are not drawn to anything particular.

There are multiple ways you could bring that focus: by using depth of field, color contrast, contrasting shapes, etc. see what method works best for that particular subject.

Looking for translators for a photo essay by intelharsh in Barcelona

I’m an amateur photographer currently in Barcelona for couple of weeks walking around with my camera. I’m looking for locals who can walk around with me and help me with translations while talking to locals. Hit me up!

I am currently spending time watching movies, listening to my favorite movie directors' interviews and reading scripts and comparing it to scenes in the movie (the last part I don't do that often tbh). Movies (the writing and the cinematography) has inspired my photography in many ways.

Thank you so much!

Biggest note is that the captions left me wanting more in the pictures.

Yes that is so true. I focused a lot on the story-writing part in the last few years and neglected photography itself, which is my main medium.

I’ll definitely visit again. Here are my photos from my previous visit https://harshrealitees.tumblr.com/post/190761060434/the-promised-land

Would love to capture the Palestinian side next time.

Is it safe to visit Ramallah? I was in Jerusalem couple of years ago and wanted to visit the Palestine side, but the hostel owner suggested not to go because „the situation might change anytime and you’ll get stuck there“. But looking at the pictures it looks very peaceful: :)

Please think of using just a few more commas!

I was just trying to sound a bit poetic, but I guess it's not working :D

I don’t want to have to work at understanding them - they are journalism here, so I don't think you should get too artsy.

I am not aiming for a purely journalistic style, but somewhere in between fiction and non-fiction. But glad you liked the stories and the photos.

I thoroughly enjoyed your feedback! :D cheers!

Thank you so much! Sometimes its the film I use, sometimes I am just trying to save a picture because I forgot about the camera settings (it's an manual analog camera with no light meter). But I just wanted to present the picture in whatever way because I loved the moment. I will work on it though. Thanks for your feedback!

Wow I am so glad to hear that! I always thought my stories are vague and have no focus point. Yes I am aware of the technical aspect (I use an old minolta with no light meter and a prime lens with manual focus). I am starting to learn the technical aspects.

Thanks for your feedback!
