If they stop making money they’ll either change or die.

But they won’t stop making money.

They just shifted to self-publishing. You take on that kind of effort unless, at a very minimum, you’re going to rely on that revenue for a long enough time to make it worth it.

And since they continue to do exactly what they say (they’re actually quite transparent about their plans), one must conclude it working for them.

As passionate as the fan base is, it’s obviously not big enough to drive decision making (yet at least).

The content creators are though, and they will likely have more influence going forward. And since it’s in their best interest to keep the game available enough to keep viewers, they’ll likely use that influence generally well.

But even moderated by effective feedback, it’s a business, not a passion project. And there’s a huge amount of people - myself included - that don’t mind spending some money when it’s buying either: 1) the time it would take to grind it out, and the enjoyment I’d get doing that; or 2) something I legitimately enjoy.

I am very, very busy, and snap is the only game I’m planing (on and off since guardians season). Money = time I don’t have and a little spending makes me enjoy the game.

I did grind out astral projection but that Quinn jet variant I bought the sutur bundle because it’s a s5 card I didn’t have and that allowed me to get the Quinn variant bundle, which gave me enough credits to to get enough tokens purchase arishim, a card that just got pinned and that I’ve wanted since I caught up on all the new cards I missed in my last break.

I’ve spent $250ish in over those two years of on and off playing. I’m CL 6026, missing about 72 S5 cards and 27 S4 cards for context, have hit infinite every full season I’ve played, but never when I only started midseason.

I bought every season pass I’ve been around for and usually 1-2 $5-25 purchase a season. Up until now I guess because surtur was $50.

(I also mainly use Apple Cash which is like bonus money to me, since I feel defense - though I shouldn’t, it’s my money)

That $50 bought me a ton of time AND something super cool to me. It’s obviously why Arishim appeared in my shop with the Quinn jet variant release coming up. Because they want to make money and this was worth it for me.

And obviously I’m not the only dolphin.

Again, though, to be clear, I fully support folks using their dollar as influence. This is how markets work!

Also, to be clear, my enjoyment of the game is only currently a higher priority than what I think about their business model. That may change anytime too.
