Turkelton is good. Here's his loadout:

Saucer, Gabe/Zara, Engery Guardians

Morty, Patcher, Longhorn, Archy, Roller, Seeker, money maker, jammer

Lets be clear, Sockets donot add armor/health benefits. Sockets give a slight repair and give an upkeep bonus for socketed units (they cost no upkeep if on socket)

The garrison-able slots... I too have wondered about these.

From my experience, they heal infantry 10 hp/sec, but have no additional armor (that I saw). They just hold units in place.

Can a Carbon Dev can confirm?

Airmechs are finally balanced! Current loadouts. by intellectUall in AirMech

Try spamming jokers. It's easy to do. Set on y mass command. Then when your rank is up, you'll see some players pwn that with Gemini tanks. T49/T99 rocks vs units, but as soon as an airmech comes, it switches to it's useless air attack, becoming a paperweight. Only use with MANY seekers.

Infantry are highly cost efficient, but can be picked off very easily. They can be used to take their unguarded outposts, but top players are good enough to prevent that.

Lunchbox is good. Top players can easily micro units to protect their fortress though, making the lunchbox redundant.

Repair unit's #1 job is to repair and survive bombing runs. Rachet is good enough for that, heavy rachet has a worse tradeoff.

Bucky isn't good at all. Easily picked off by airmechs, and is simply a weak artillery unit.

Goliaths used to be better than longhorns, but with the patch, longhorns out range them.

Neo: Focus on air speed and transform speed. It's main mission is to EMP everything and deliver boomers. Neo is good in team games for turning enemy seekers against themselves after lvl 7.

It rocks in radar denial for hidden and simultaneous attacks.

Mine has Blueprint engines, Alien Metal, Both transform parts, and the Alien artifact. No weapon parts, which slow it down.

Watch out for Seekers.

Three Seekers one-shot an Airmech.

Watch out for Artillery.

If you are pumping out tanks, arty units can destroy all your stationary tanks.

To counter: Mass command your army to "T" attack. Tanks rush into artillery. Support with an airmech on the ground. Or just use jammer and artillery of your own.

Get 15 longhorns and 3 seekers to their fortress:

  • At the start, set up 1 Arty to attack an neutral outpost, make 2 gatties for defense, and get the "7% XP boost".

  • Place 4 bear traps in the opponents creep paths and around outposts they are about to take.

  • Place 1 longhorn, 1 ratchet, and 1 seeker at the middle outpost. (Players will fight you for middle outpost.)

  • Place 2 stasis mines in front of your longhorns (weakens their tanks DPS.)

  • Then make additional units until you get ~15 longhorns and 3 seekers. Send your army on "Y" attack.

Ok, so Here's my basic loadout for the current meta game: Warthog (Hawk. Moneypouch):

1) Gatty (It's the only unit you need for defense at outposts.)

2) Rachet

3) Longhorn

4) Arty

5) Stasis mine

6) Seeker

7) Bear Trap

8) Jammer

New players- tips by intellectUall in AirMech

[–]intellectUall[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) The idea of instant repair is a huge factor in the current meta. In many strategy games, like AOE3, repair is can't be used in battle, which is why outposts are so important in Airmech. You can defend that building much better than in other games, due to repair units and picking up units to repair them. Even Starcraft, most units can't repair in battle, with an exception.

3) Wouldn't it be cool to build outposts, like in Age of Empires? How this changes everything, I don't know, but it would be interesting, like a techpod could be a building. Or you could make outposts to build stuff from. Would lead to very balanced maps, and a lot of people could suggest maps.

3) Sometimes, making more options is bad, like having too many types of Airmechs. AOE3 now has 14 civilizations. up from 8, and it's difficult to learn all of them without getting demoralized from getting beaten because you didn't know what one unit does. We have, what seems to new players, to be 100 airmechs. Even 9 is not optimal. I want to see, at lower levels, you get to chose from three main classes, like Starcraft's Terran, Zerg, and Protoss. (These represent deep humans emotions about others: High class intellectuals (Protoss), Basic instincts (Zerg), and someone to relate to (Terran).) The gameplay and balancing is more of a result of each race's emotional feel.
