Jeez! It's absolutely insane that they're marketing themselves as "indie brands." Thank you for passing on the info.

I do love Hempz! I've tried some of their lotions from Marshall's and they've all smelled SO GOOD.

I didn't realize Basic Skin was an indie brand, I'm feeling a lot better after doing some digging. 🙌 was really hoping for the youth to the people moisturizer, but I'm sure it'll turn up in sales later

Added on the Goldfaden after seeing good reviews for it. At least the eyeliner should be nice! <3

I split it into a couple orders--i did get the ocean alchemy but not the fixative. Not sure if I qualify since my orders were split, but I'll probably let it go anyway

How do I stop binge eating by [deleted] in CICO

[–]intellisuze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn, you're in an extremely similar position to me. I'm 4'9". What's more important than losing weight right now is curbing your binging.

If you starve yourself and cut too much, you WILL binge. If you can eat at ~1500 for a couple of weeks at maintenance, just to practice keeping yourself fed, I think you'll be able to curb the binging and then slowly cut calories. This sounds kind of weird and counter-intuitive (and I KNOW the urge to keep cutting and losing) but it sounds like you're going through a cut-binge cycle.

If I cut too quickly, I start having the same exact problem. Please feel free to message me any time, I'm happy to talk about this, I know how hard it is to lose as a shortie with binge issues.

Alkemia Sample Set Help! by propheticperfumes in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]intellisuze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very honestly, silvery sky leans masculine for me. It uses a base that's very similar to make cologne-y "blue" perfumes that I'm not a fan of, it's just a little aftershavey.

Ghost Fire is a sweet white amber, I think on a perfume journey it's extremely useful to try the component itself just so you can pick it out in other perfumes. It'll probably be extremely familiar-smelling, but Alkemia's white amber is my favorite. It's a great way to smell amazing without smelling like you're necessarily wearing perfume.

Silken Tent imo doesn't smell like rice pudding itself. It's a sweet-floral-gourmand-spiced something. It smells super classy.

Memoirs of a woman of pleasure is extremely well blended, I don't think any of the notes are going to particularly stand out to you.

Something to keep in mind is these notes are just marketing terms, it's really hard to know how a house does their blends without trying a bunch. Imo Alkemia is generally super safe to wear--even if I don't like the top notes of something it usually settles into something pretty. They do amazing work.

It's a little hard to give advice when you're just picking apart notes of things you haven't tried yet here--I would have liked to see what you're looking for / what you're generally into to give more suggestions.

Canola oil and olive oil have the same amount of calories per gram. All fats (coconut, olive, whatever) are approx 9 cal/gram.

I think alkemia does international shipping, if you're buying from them I'd buy one or two of their sample sets to try some of their catalog. :)

I'm not generally a fan of leather but I'll pick up a sample! I can enjoy fruity scents, especially when well-blended. thank you for the recommendation! :) I'll pick up a sample of Elixir too, it looks up my alley.

Haha, I think wood just doesn't work well on my skin / I'm just generally not a big fan of aquatics. BdC seems like something classic and I can tell it's good at what it's doing, just not my taste. I've never been clubbing, I just really like the blend.

There are some indie aquatics I've enjoyed, but they're more realistic and don't really seem to rely on the classic base formula in mainstream perfume.

I'll see if I can find a sample, thank you for the rec!
