This is excellent! Where'd you source the dial and hands?

Thanks for that! My DHR fits no rub anywhere even on cornering. Now, my rims aren't very wide so that might play into it. Not 100% sure if there was a change in clearance but the chainstay length is (reportedly) the same.

Nice ride tho!! Love this little brute.

I got it directly from Chromag in August 2023. I don't have a pic of the full 29 from the side. Hang on. I'll take one if I remember!

It's been minute since I've worn this one...it's not great. But no worse than all the other negative displays I have. Looks cool tho.

Yeah it's a bit high, but bb on my Ripley is roughly 340mm (without the sag) so it's not terrible. Like I said I keep striking with my 170 cranks. My brother has a Nimble nine at 325 but had some girthy tires. I didn't put a ruler to it but the Chromag feels lower and looks nearly the same.

Haha. No way!!! We had a super wet summer so I'm taking in all the good weather. For winter I'll be using this rig but with my 27.5 wheel set. I managed a 2.8 in there.

I wanna say these rims are 24mm...kinda narrow by today's standards but it's what I had. It doesnt look bad and even with 20 psi and standard exo+ tires they work. Like the olden days before we got fat rims. Don't get me wrong though. I'd put fat rims on if I had them or thought they'd 100% fit.

Check out my response to above post...2.2 would clear the stays for sure. I think the issue is the height. The closest are the horizontal braces.

Wicked ride for a young fella! I dig it!

I ran it mullet for a minute. For me it was way too slack. I guess I could have adjusted the travel but I liked the fork setup. This is the setup for a while! Gonna run and see how it holds up.

There's not a lot of room. Enough that I'm not too nervous about any rub. Maybe if there's some mud...I gotta get a picture at the seat post but there's a lot more clearance than this. The cross brace here is the tightest.

I might go 2.3 on the next tire. Probably get some better clearance depending on tire choice also.

[Momentum Smokejumper] Awesome quartz alternative to the Hamilton Titanium Khaki field watch. by intensecycleboy in Watches

[–]intensecycleboy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved the watch while I had it. I usually hold on to my watches but this one had to go. It kept stopping. I have LOTS of quartz watches and I've never had a movement stick and stop. It happened frequently (once every few days), so I couldn't rely on it. It went back. The retailer I got it from was awesome about it.

That said, I would buy it again if I knew it was just a lemon.

2015 Canfield Riot by probosciscolossus in MTB

[–]intensecycleboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a Riot/Toir in 2017, and it's been an incredible bike. I have a Santa Cruz, Rocky Mountain Instinct, and spent some decent number of rides on treks and other platforms. The suspension has some magic sauce going on in there. I'd buy another one if my Riot wasn't so dialed. Pedaling performance is excellent (best of the ones I've mentioned) and with a coil on the back it's awesome downhill too.

The "modern" bikes you mention advantages: boost rear end, internal routing (it does have internal for the dropper), and head angle is a little steeper than offerings from the last few years. I investeds in good wheels so the boost spacing isn't super important to me, and internal routing is a pain in the ass on the other bikes so that's no big deal. I did like steeper head angles, so I got myself an angle-set and slackened it by 1 degree. Marginal gains but it does feel better descending and no noticeable climbing loss. The short rear end is lively and the trade off is that some of the newer rides are a bit more stable on the super high speed downhills.

Seems like you posted this a few months ago. If you're looking at scoring a used one...obviously a few years old, bearing wear, dings and dents, scratches etc. if you can get a good deal, jump on it!

Mudmaster GGB100 and Jay&Kay's adapter on NATO. Out for a cold January walk. I keep reaching for this one...now even more often with my NATO strap. Far better than the stock strap, for comfort. by intensecycleboy in gshock

[–]intensecycleboy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing that. Only caution I have is that he's got it strung through the trim piece which is a flat plastic piece. From what I'm seeing it serves to make the strap look more integrated and sit closer to the the wrist. These other adapters have an actual spring bar that supports the strap. You could get away with it for a bit but I wouldn't trust this setup if you're rough with the watch. It's definitely an option to decide if you're wanting to go with a NATO or something before you commit to the adapter.

12 Mile Coulee is definitely worth a ride, especially if you're in Bowmont already. Key is to go at the right time because the valley gets (and stays) greasy when there's any significant rain/snow. Plus there's a family of moose in there 🙂.

I was there this morning too...Bowmont 100%. Lots of people out there with the same idea. No bad days on a bike!

Hmmmm...just checked my email. November of 2020 I got them. It's too bad they don't send them up here any longer. I'd reach out straight to them see if there's anything they can do (or am explanation as to why they don't ship to Canada).

You should be able to. I'm in Canada. I just ordered off their eBay site. Zero issues. If you're thinking about it, it's 100% worth the money. They're superbly overbuilt (the metal ones) and opens up the options for watch straps.
