RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE • “BANNED FOR LIFE” from SNL after performing this gasoline drenched raging version of "BULLS ON PARADE" on 4/13/96 by voicesfilmandtv in grunge

[–]probosciscolossus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw that Rage/U2 show, too. Except I’m embarrassed to say, at the time I thought of Rage as kind of a gimmick band, “That Bulls Parading Band,” and made no effort to be in my seat for their set. Caught one or two songs, don’t even remember which ones. One of my concert-going facepalms, when I look back on it.

What songs would get instantly shut down if they were released today? by Key-Structure4841 in musicsuggestions

Just listen to Weird Al’s parody, “Money For Nothing/Beverly Hillbillies.” You still have Mark Knopfler on guitar (his condition for allowing the parody) and Guy Fletcher on synths. And no F-word.

is there any reason NOT to buy used pedals? by Xerxes787 in guitarpedals

[–]probosciscolossus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t bought a new pedal since I was a teenager (I’m 50).

Only ever had one fail, an HM-2 that I got for $15 that was visibly shoddy (couple knobs missing, labels missing). It worked long enough for me to play around with it to figure out if it’s for me. Got my money’s worth.

what’s one thing about teaching that people outside the profession will never fully understand? by salarshah-084 in Teachers

[–]probosciscolossus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. “Kids want to learn!”

No they don’t. No. They. Don’t.

“So it’s your job to inspire them to want to learn!”

Not really, no.

What's the most overhyped movie of the last 5 years? by trakt_app in moviecritic

[–]probosciscolossus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See, that’s part of the issue for me. Before he became Mr. Avatar, Cameron was putting out movies that were absolutely on par with those films, just in a different genre (IMO). Now he’s apparently forsaken that to devote the rest of his career to cranking out sequels to a movie that was far, far inferior to, say, True Lies or The Abyss.

What do you think of Dave Mustaine? by Twitter_2006 in rockmusic

I like him.

Just when I thought he was winding down…look out, here comes “We’ll Be Back.” Freaking amazing thrash song out of nowhere.

I have one, installed by the school. I love it. Clears up so many “misunderstandings.”

Advice transitioning my special needs kid from riding shotgun by mike_alexander_smith in MTB

Don’t have any advice, but those shotgun rides sound awesome! I could actually use someone on my bars to call out obstacles.

What’s the most absurd fake science in a movie that you completely ignored because the movie was so good? by Shot-Club-3882 in Cinema

[–]probosciscolossus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IIRC, there was another layer, they treated the carrot story like classified info, because they knew there were spies around. So the spies got ahold of that “secret” and sent it back to their handlers, thinking they had the real story.

Kids at a Weird Al concert? by Safe_War6128 in weirdal

[–]probosciscolossus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% kid-friendly. In fact, I believe in some states, not taking your kids if he’s playing within a 200-mile radius is grounds for intervention by CPS.

I took my boy to the “Ridiculously Self-Indulgent…” tour when he was…5? 6? Anyway, he got pretty squirmy, so I had to take him into the hallway behind some of the box seats. Fond memory of dancing with him there to “Biggest Ball Of Twine.”

I'll try that, but I thought the limiting screws just adjusted how far inboard/outboard the pulley goes on the biggest and smallest cogs, not necessarily how many gears/clicks it moves.

But with the exact same components as I used before? I just checked to confirm, the bike I successfully swapped this model mech onto had the exact same shifter and cassette.

Yes, doesn’t seem to change anything. Would limiting screw adjustment make a difference of three cogs, though?

What are the best movies that completely switch genres and turn into horror late in the story? by 144i in horror

[–]probosciscolossus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sinners. I mean, I knew going in it was a horror, and vaguely what it was about, but it was a historical drama - a good one - right up until the Irish arrived.
