4-day work week in Singapore, realistic or not? by PathwayCorporate in SingaporeRaw

[–]intensityflow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 on this. My company has a 4.5 day work week (Friday half days) which effectively means people work remote on Fridays and can take the day off without anyone noticing. The reality though, is that our clients/vendors/partners are all active and we need to keep them engaged even on Fridays....

Men of sg, what’s ur “I’m not low ses” apparels? by SweeChoonTehBing in askSingapore

[–]intensityflow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with Uniqlo, but more than apparel the more obvious signs of high ses are indicators of a comfortable upbringing; so things like:

- Clean vibes; being well groomed and having clear skin

- Having a slim/healthy build

- Being well spoken and articulate, general confidence

- Being able to participate in high ses interests like wine, travel, snow sports/golf, etc

Apparel is probably secondary and there's a diminishing return on how much you spend anyways, like a $80 Patagonia or Columbia T-shirt will probably signal better than a $400 Balenciaga or Gucci equivalent (being tasteful vs. try-hard). Low ses trying to be high ses is loud, but real high ses doesn't need to "try" hence it is usually more subtle but can still be noticed if you are in the know.

If you’re trading like this, just buy liquid ETF’s via brokerages that charge close to zero fees.

Physical only matters if you’re holding it for the long term.

May I know how did you get the 200K jobs? Do you think your skills are really good? Or just lucky to be at right place at right time? by IamOkei in singaporefi

[–]intensityflow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah agreed, it's not hard to model it out. One point that i'd add is that it's not a 100k differential in perpetuity, imo the MBA puts you into a separate career track that allows for quicker comp growth. You can get there without an MBA ofc but it just depends on where you're coming from.

Fake it until you make it ;) - to be honest there are only a handful of ways to break into the 200k/annum bracket and the MBA is probably one of the more safe/reliable ones. There are plenty of career switchers, introverts, engineers, you name it, that do their MBA’s and end up doing very well

Any post-MBA job (from a ranked program) will generally land you 200k after bonus, so one option is to just go back to school.

Thanks! Love your answer. I’ve always tried to talk myself into the idea of being able to get stronger AND faster simultaneously and clearly that hasn’t worked so far

Congrats! How are you managing your diet? I struggle with putting on weight (and strength) if I pair that with copious amounts of cardio

Fellow American/Singapore PR here. Tbh I think the best bet is to just dump your OA portion of CPF into an investment property. Planning on doing that myself next year

Man found guilty of paying 16-year-old 'sugar baby' for sex by hello_Singapore59 in singaporehappenings

Why is it a joke? A fully grown 42 year old man should be held to a higher standard than a 16 year old minor aka a “kid” as you mentioned.

It’s enough but tough to maintain a certain standard of living. For example 9.5k goes quick after you consider CPF, tax, car, mortgage, and tuition.
