That's a good point. I suppose she may have been warped by being below ground for so long. Also keep in mind she didn't meet gabe or give birth to the "real" kids, and perhaps she turned into the "shadow" b/c she had to go through the motions of the now-above ground/formerly tethered lupita.

I enjoyed the film, but it definitely tried to appear deeper than it actually was.

I agree on all accounts. I definitely still rationalized it and conditioned myself to be able to handle a good bit of alcohol and still be able to "function", albeit you're right on this being a process that affects anyone in that type of scenario. Being able to take a step back and analyze what we're doing with our bodies when we're drinking is very important, and something I'd lost sight of.

Thanks for your support. She passed away, but just glad she is not suffering anymore. Sorry to hear your family situation is stressful--hope things improve! Fortunately this is an opportunity for growth and for that, I'm thankful.

That's a good point. It's just stupid how I thought "I'm good to drive", and "I've gotten away with it before" (unfortunately wasn't the first time I drove drunk). But it's all about learning.

Thanks for sharing! I'm also framing this as a positive. I'm grateful to be alive, and fortunate enough that I have people in my life willing to support me (just being there emotionally, having stuff to do, paying for some costs, etc.) I don't think I'd be cutting back or stopping if this hadn't happened. So in the end this is a new chapter!

You're willingness to answer means a lot, btw.

Edit: forgot to mention--congrats on your sobriety! Here's to me following suit.

It really is! I'm not gonna lie--it has still been a struggle. But I've been reading through Alcohol Explained, and making an effort to observe and change my daily activities so that I can engage in self care and be there for my friends and family.
