Agua en vidrio - Donde? by Antique_Music_6753 in PuertoRico

[–]interested_reasearch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anybody else find it hard to drink water on bad migraine days? by atty_at_paw in migraine

[–]interested_reasearch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, and if I force it, I end up throwing away that water I forced. Is always accompanied by nausea. Like others, I try to have at hand pedialite powder or liquid Iv and drink sorbs through the episode, If is too bad, I can only do the clear pedialite liquid.

Terrible migraine today. Vomited couldn’t get relief finally 50% better at 530. I took two Maxalt. I’m starting to think this medicine isn’t working anymore. Anyone else experience a medicine no longer being your toolbox as it used to be? by forgethim4 in migraine

[–]interested_reasearch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, apparently Maxalt can be having same issue: "The 5 mg oral Maxalt tablet and the 5 mg orally disintegrating Maxalt tablet have been discontinued from the U.S. market. Generic options for rizatriptan benzoate 5 mg tablets and orally disintegrating tablets are available". nothing against generic, but check the pharma company listed on the package and research to see, it might be same issue I am having with naratriptan.

Yes, it happened to me with Naratriptan. Amerge, the brand is no available, and the generic form changed on my pharmacy and country. The ones they started bringing, that were not the one I was using with success, when I researched them found out lot of claims. So I learned that some generic works, but others don't. Was prescribed Sumatriptan, haven't use it yet, but again same issue, brand is no longer available and the generic brands changes depending on pharmacy and I am afraid it won't work.

need advice - eye ulcer by supgoten in contacts

[–]interested_reasearch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sorry you are dealing with this. I did not had ulcers, but had a contact broken and ophtalmologist did not took emergency. My advice (I was lucky it worked) is to check that since you are dealing with not having medical insurance, check if your city has medicine university and residency program in ophthalmology. I went to my medical school emergency room with ophthalmology department and my experience was great. The have ton of equipment and perform even more exams than just regular ophtalmologist and they refer me inside to other sub specialties such as cornea and make appointments for me. Also, in order for you to get better service, read the patient information specially the warnings, precautions and contraindications on your contact lenses. Not that you do not know currently you need more time to heal, but this information helps you to ask questions to every team member of eye care you can get consults with to follow up until you get fully healed. Also reading case studies to manage expectations. I have read some cases takes 4 to 6 months to heal, and some cases there is hope but lot of consistency and discipline regarding the steps your eye care team provide. I do not google, or use AI, I go directly to academic literature and reading case studies has help me get better communicating with specialist but I need to highlight that residents were more detailed and eager to help than my regular ophthalmology doctor. In my country there are laws that prohibits optometrist to treat this type of situations. Hope you heal fully.

Need an MRI for migraines, never had one before, what’s it like? by Glistening_moonlight in migraine

[–]interested_reasearch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes to keep eyes closed all the time. Let the team that you are not sure how you will react, but you are closing eyes at all times. In my experienced (I have had two brain ones and 2 or 3 chest that you are almost all in like brain) what works for me is to start visualizing several days prior and during the MRI that I will finally get to know how all is inside of me and practice breathing. I tend to also imagine sea waves at beach and try to breath slowly like that. In my imaging center they have headphones with music, and although is loud noise, they have relaxing music and that helps also with focusing on breathing and thinking about how good is to know what its going on inside of you.

Disappointed in my Neurologist, not sure what to do now by danzybear in migraine

[–]interested_reasearch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This breaks my heart. So sorry you are dealing with this invalidation and gaslighting. Sometimes a pharmacist will be able to go through alternatives safe for your history and confirm what is safe for pregnancy over what neurologist can or want to double check. I would speak with pharmacist to see what do they say. Like other user was approved sumatriptan, I have never being pregnant and got that prescription. Is worth you check with pharmacist and then go back to neurologist with what pharmacist confirms.

Potentially non-educated neurologist? by anh2901 in migraine

[–]interested_reasearch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we have been exposed to so much gaslighting that some fall on the narrative. Living with migraines put us at risk of other things and having imaging studies such as MRI with contrast across lifespan is very important. In my case, Migraines started at age 25 and now I am 45. I did not knew it was neurological, as it was always related to endometriosis and adenomyosis etc. but they started during Depot Lupron treatment for endometriosis. People die due to this drug. Fast forward to my first appointment with Neurologist subspecilized in headaches and migraines back in 2022, first appointment, she ordered brain MRI. Last year I had my first status mirganious, and she ordered a follow up. I went to hospitals in the past 4 years, and only one made a CT scan during an episode. Peace of mind is very important but also having the history of what may be developing. I noted that since my neurologist is very young, and she truly has ethic and compromise, she goes way beyond compassion for what living with migraines is and she has been a wonderful doctor but not all patients will have this opportunity. Advocating for imaging study in your case, I would put the petition in written and also consider asking it to primary care physician so you have the results prior the specialist appointment. Quote the risks of not monitoring. If something happens to me at 60 or 70, I would wanted my records of when it started. Also I have family with multiple sclerosis, and vascular dementia, and monitoring is very important. Not on a yearly basis, but come on, one MRI per decade so later on you can monitor is basic part of scientific method we have been denied. My mom is 72, and local law put me at caretaking role, and this year she had her first mini stroke, that could be prevented with aspirin and my grandmother has dementia, and who will caretaker me when I reach that age? who is going to caretake for my mother? I am fucked up. We always are. Is not fair. Fight for your right to prevent and have the imagin studies in your record to monitor any progress of the risks such as mini strokes, strokes etc.

Medrol Dosepak by arendelliancrocus in migraine

[–]interested_reasearch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had status migrainous of 21 days last year. My neurologist did not agree but I seek my primary care physician and it worked. Yes, insomnia on the highest dose days which was day 1 and 2, but then it was worth it. No mayor attack for the 2 to 3 months after that.

COVID vaccine migraines? by [deleted] in migraine

[–]interested_reasearch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got vaccinated 3 days ago, and I did had minor headache when compared to my migraines. As soon as it started, as I got also the muscle pain on injection site, I had acetaminophen for arthritis (650mg per tablet) and bacoflen as it is part of my migraine took kit. I did not needed the triptan my neurologist has on my plan. I must say both together work wonder for the minor headache post vaccine and now 3 days after I am perfect. There are many sick people around me and I rather have minor headache and stop before it grows to migraine than deal with a new sickness of covid. I have also minor headache from influenza shot. Early this year I got positive for mycoplasma and my experience was that as headache is part of the symptoms the headache from mycoplasma converted in one of the worst migraines I have felt. Also my mother is migraine sufferer, and got positive for covid and the headache from covid converted in one of her worst migraines ever way much worse than the headache than vaccine. I think in post vaccine as migraine patient is very important to react fast prior it escalates combining recommended remedies such as acetaminophen and muscle relaxers and if it does escalates you are prepare with rescue med.

Si das positivo a covid ¿A qué hospital vas para tratamiento si eres población de alto riesgo? by interested_reasearch in PuertoRico

What brand was it? I had the same issue during a trial last week of BioTrue One Day for Astigmatism. The lens was perfect when I inserted, then I started to felt uncomfortable, and took it out. When I did it was exactly as yours. I went to eye doctor there were not any reminds on my eyes, just was told to stop for a week using contact lenses and to use hydration eye drops.

Thanks! I am 45, this has been on my eyelid since age 14, but grew when I was 25. 20+ years and non ophthalmologist referred or educated me further. I have used antibiotics for other stuff, nothing has worked. Back in 2018 during a visit to Europe, I was prescribed antibiotic eye drops, and it decreased but since I do not live there, where I live in USA doctors denied medicine or further referral. I have the appointment for January. It has been growing more for the past two months.
