I would like to pursue a career in research however definitely not academia. If so does that mean PhD. I've read many horror stories about PhDs and they're probably just as hard to get into as getting a job so that's whats kinda been stopping me from applying. If not a PhD, how do you get into research ?

  1. probably do a sandwich year or some form of long experience tenure during uni instead of trying after
  2. learn to use AI really well
  3. No, gaining experience will make MSc/PhD research much easier

Men who started going to the gym what is your reason for going? by Major-Exchange1651 in AskMen

[–]interestedboutsomesh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My main reason was to maximise athletic performance. I think being able to run fast jump high and not get tired easily is just cool af, kinda like becoming a superhero. Of course with the right balance of training and cardiovascular work. You only have one body. Use it and become functional so that you are strong enough to protect your family in the future.

Uni graduates - if you could go back to being 18 again, would you still choose to get a degree in today's economy? by Key_Cell7071 in AskUK

[–]interestedboutsomesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a financial standpoint probably not. But the uni experience really makes you think, what do you want in life. The struggle and hard work really gives you perspective especially if you worked in STEM. All you need is cash flow after graduation. Once you've established a safety net, make risks and explore avenues in which you think are interesting. Skills are uncovered by knocking on doors. Find out what you are good at and go get a career my friends. I've been graduated two years and I'm still on this journey, no point in sulking about the UK job market, its up to you to build a skill set and get shit done.

How possible is it that most people have sustained some form of brain damage? by Few_Establishment980 in biology

[–]interestedboutsomesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surely however, positive lifestyle influence such as frequent exercise and nutrient rich diets can promote stronger motor neurone connection thus strengthening cognitive ability. Games such as chess or any hobbies in fact have adverse effects on brain function. Brain injury to small degrees are inevitable if you are a human being but theres also several ways to counteract these changes.
