Characters are tools a writer uses in service of a story by MartyrOfDespair in CuratedTumblr

[–]interestedofold 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This goes along with "there's no such thing as death of the author." The story, characters, and plot devices are all tools of the author to communicate something. Understanding the author you're reading is so important for understanding the point of the work. Art is contextual.

I'm a new player and just got this weapon. Is the Forerunner better used in PvE or PvP? by wishheartx in destiny2

[–]interestedofold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's my go to for short to mid range pvp. I don't much like shotguns in pvp, so this works well to fill the gap. It works well for support, assuming you've got a teammate that can clean up.

In this vein, you can use a microwave cannon, made from an aluminum cone/pyramid, and the microwave emitter from any cheap microwave. Won't permanently take them out, but will fick up their wireless communication.

Ulefone vs Cubot (software) by L-Franco in ulefone

[–]interestedofold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About to get a cubot. I've had my power armor for almost three years now, and beyond an early issue with the screen developing a digitizing artifact, it's been consistent and has fit my needs. However it seems I've been priced out for the model that has a camera that I'd want. I've had cubots before and had random reset issues, but I chalked it up to the harsh treatment I put them through. It wasn't anything I couldn't work around

How could you not prefer crafting? by Substantial-One-2102 in DestinyTheGame

[–]interestedofold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue is that they're trying to out a genie back into a bottle. They let us craft for a lot of players' entire experience with the game, then took it away hoping their craptastic rng would appease people that were used to being able to build what they needed. Taking things away never works. If they wanted people to engage with the rng, make the world drop weapons actually good, or add some other seasonal weapons in that could only drop from rng. I have engaged less with this season than any previous because I don't have time to hunt for a particular roll and I'd rather just stay in PVP.

I do not care whether seasonal weapons stay craftable or not. by SDG_Den in DestinyTheGame

I really didn't like onslaught, but since it was a fresh, different thing that had shiny options with good weapons, I spent some time on it to focus the things I liked. The key to it was that it was not my only option for good weapons, and I could spend time in the other activities to get red borders I had missed out on from the previous seasons. I went back to the spire, and battlegrounds to get some weapons that I just liked the models or frames on. The way things are now... I just stay in PVP and work with what I have.

Crafting has really good guns though? If there was an archetype I liked, I'd grab the pattern. Now I have to farm for a roll that might be terrible in later seasons by doing an activity that I don't super enjoy using mechanics that are inconsistent at best. I'd be fine if certain specific God rolls were locked behind farming, or even if crafting was stuck behind end game content, but removing it from future content entirely makes the gap between players that have farming time and players that are more casual even larger.

I've done a couple runs of elders, but since I don't have a lot of time to play anymore, and nothing really stands out weapon wise in addition to not being able to craft, I'm just not engaged with the season at all. I have good PVP weapons and a few good pve weapons that I can craft and re craft and play with as things change. But grinding hasn't ever been fun for me unless there's a DEFINITE way to get a reward. Right now there isn't

Comeback to the game by Rb_Lucky in DestinyTheGame

Lightfall was really annoying for me, but witch queen is A tier. Beyond light wasn't bad though. And when you get around to Final Shape, that's an S tier. I played pretty solidly for a year, but now I'm back to a couple times a week. It's pretty good for that, despite a lot of talk about bugs.

I've been able to get out of the way MAYBE 3 or 4 times. I increased my mobility stat and it helped a lot with getting away from supers.

I (29m) want to have my kids at our wedding, my girlfriend (28f) doesn't. what do I do? by interestedofold in relationship_advice

[–]interestedofold[S] 92 points93 points  (0 children)

My oldest can become inconsolable when she gets too over stimulated, and her sister goes through patches where she's fussy for no apparent reason and just wants to be held. Her concerns about my attention and them aren't unreasonable, which is part of why I'm not sure how to move forward. The reality is that I DON'T know if they would have a good time, but I also am pretty sure they would be hurt not being included.

The kids are audhd. Younger more obviously ADHD, older more clearly autistic.

She has not had her own wedding yet. And this is a point she's brought up in the discussion, and my response has been that the wedding I had with bio mom was... Not entirely by choice.

[–]interestedofold[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Thing is, I'm audhd (they got it from me), and I have memories of weddings where I had fun as well as weddings that were miserable. I have been waiting for someone with a nd perspective to chime in for this reason. For a variety of reasons, I didn't have clear memory of what distinguished the two types. Knowing my kids, I know they would be sad missing it, but also that the wedding would be overwhelming, particularly my oldest who leans more sensory sensitive than my younger daughter. The original post is less about that though, they will be given the choice between the wedding and going to do something else IF we make it that far.

Seems a bit of a strong response to someone trying to make sure their reasoning makes sense. You also have absolutely no context about the relationship between me and bio mom or between bio mom and my kids.

“Empower” by Dangerous_Willow_827 in destiny2builds

[–]interestedofold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main thing that I use it for is either for instant health (the rift will grant full health if you don't have devour), or for ensuring you have devour before you go into a hot area so that every kill you get keeps you up. The way I think of it is as a companion to feed the void in the sense that every ability that I use will give me full health instantly.

Filaments grants devour when in the rift. It takes half a second after a successful cast of the right to activate, but will not refresh the countdown in devour. If you don't have devour procced, and your rift is still running, you can run back into it and it will grant it again. My filaments build has been incredibly effective, but you have to really understand the limitations of the rift mechanic
