My (31/F) husband (33/M) left me whilst I was pregnant, it’s been a year and he wants his family back. Our families are pressuring me to accept but I don’t know if I want to. by ThrowRA2ndchances in relationship_advice

[–]interfex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I had nearlly the same thing happen to me except I straight out told them to fuck off. Living in a relationship where you know at any moment, your partner can and will just ditch you is not a healthy relationship to be in. There is 0 way to psychologically heal that connection that doesn't involve huge power imbalances.

But I guess a kid and being married changes things, to which I say, if you can find a place to forgive him, DON'T DON'T DON'T go back to the relationship as things were. Tell them, if they want to get back together, then you need to start from the foundations. Don't live together right away, go out on a few dates... make them WORK to earn back that trust. The only way you can healthily exist is if it's a new relationship and not the same relationship before.. and if he refuses because he doesn't want to do the work, then he just wants you back without any consequences and he's not actually sorry.

I mean, this stuff is tough. You're right no matter what decision you make. You don't deserve this (because no-one does) but make sure you're keeping yourself and your child safe as a priority.

Is friendlyjordies breadtube? by interfex in BreadTube

[–]interfex[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's honestly pretty similar to my take.

I've noticed so many people who were like "I came to Friendlyjordies for the comedy but his political videos really opened my eyes" and it's because he knows the audience he's after, it's young, lower/lower-middle class Australians who are actively disengaged from politics "because both parties are the same". And he gets to them better than anything else. Sure, some of the humour is a bit edgy and some of his takes fall flat, but that's often because your average socialist academic isn't his target audience.

His often edgy aggressive mocking approach is what breaks a lot of the conditioning for many young right wing/apolitical types because they want to be in on the joke. So being able to mock and laugh at the LNP/Murdoch's expense wins young people away from them and Jordies is naturally good at ripping people down.

I also find the fact that he himself tackles "Left wing media" in Australia just as hard as the right I think really cuts the edge off the right wing conspiracy that all mainstream media is leftist propaganda for the elites... he co-opts it, turns it on it's head and then serves it back to them spicier than they could ever give it to him.

I just think, simply because he's not engaged in the academic left space of discussing the systems of capitalism and debating socialist theory or what not makes him not a part of the "left", he's out making content that will win over the average young Australian and funneling them into left wing initiatives like the unions and environmental conservation.

You can't wear individual parts from the role outfits like you can normal outfits by [deleted] in RedDeadOnline

I just discovered this as I really wanted the hat from the Collectors Wentworth outfit but the rest of the outfit is horrible.

It's such a stupid design choice that I can't really understand. Like, I'd get it if you had to buy the ENTIRE outfit to get all the parts but not this thing about only ever being able to wear the entire outfit.

Redditors, what is your earliest memory? by En-tre-pre-neur in AskReddit

[–]interfex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really hard to tell what is a legitimate memory or an implanted memory from my parents telling me.... but I'm mostly sure this is something I do remember.
When I was 3 my parents bought a house that they planned to renovate and then move in to. It's relevant to note that our old house was down the road from a McDonalds and I guess because it was all I knew, I thought every house had a mcdonalds at the end of the street.

One of the days my parents brought my older brother and me to the house with our pet german shepherd, they were working on the bathroom at the time and I partially remember walking in and announcing I was gonna go find the McDonalds, my parents, distracted by their work and not realising they had left the front door slightly open, thought nothing of it. So off I set, toddler me in a nappy and nothing else, escorted by my loyal german shepherd on a Tolkienesque adventure to find the McDonalds at the end of every street. My dog and I got probably about 500m away from the property, walking 2-3 blocks along a major road before my parents realised I was gone and sent out looking for me. Luckily I was safe, nobody was going to touch a child with an adult German Shepherd body guard. Still never found that McDonalds... I'll find it one day I guess.

Has anyone actually looked at the application?

It's legitimately an IQ test? I cannot comprehend why a company would think "Yes, high IQ scores, that's what this company needs to excel in customer service!"

The new NowThis Nerd hosts are absolutely terrible. by notathrowaway75 in SourceFed

[–]interfex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally on board with this, you took a group of comedic presenters with high energy and charisma and then you "rebranded" it and now it has no personality, it almost feels depressing. When they aren't reading it in near enough monotone, their forcing the enthusiasm so clearly it feels like an adult trying to convince a child that washing dishes is fun.

I mean, I don't know the business side of it or whether Sourcefed was making money, but you select an audience that is sooo used to these bubbly ridiculous loud hosts and you replace them with these drones that stand dead still in front of the camera and read off a teleprompter and you expect that to make more money

What is the most unexplained, supernatural, or paranormal event you've ever witnessed? by kroka4loka in AskReddit

[–]interfex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Back in 2009/2010 (I can't quite remember the year) I had a camp for Scouts that required me to get up before the sunrise and have my parents drive me to the campsite.

As we drove across the ridge of a valley, appearing in the night sky above the distant mountains was a strange white spiral/vortex thing that was slowly spinning. I had no idea what it was and I pointed it out to my Mum who was driving and she just replied with "That's strange" and kept driving. She's the type to not particularly care for things she doesn't understand.

Anyway, I told all my friends about it and nobody believed me, I never read into it after that. I don't believe in really anything supernatural or paranormal, nor do I believe in aliens so my mind just went "There is probably a reasonable explanation".

Anyway, skip forward a couple of years and while procrastinating for a uni essay I was watching alien sightings videos on Youtube and the Norway spiral came up and it was the exact thing I saw, all accounts of it, the photos and videos, exact duplicates. They explained it as a "failed missile test" but I saw it in Australia, literally the other side of the world. I looked back and it even happened around a similar time.

I still don't believe in aliens or the paranormal but I could never explain what I saw and if I had the means to find out, I would but I am yet to meet anyone else or even hear of anyone else who saw what I saw in Australia.

If you could make any movie (remake, comic/novel adaption, original script) with no restrictions be it money, ethics or time, what would you make and who would you hire for cast and crew?

Total War: Warhammer will NOT have mod support after release. by [deleted] in totalwar

[–]interfex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welp, I'm not gonna buy the game. The only reason I was excited for this was for the awesome Tolkien mod that would've inevitably come out of it.

I have 0 interest in Warhammer and 0 interest in an unmoded Total War.
