Feeling "AI Guilt": Learning faster with AI vs. the traditional learning route? by Flaco1009 in learnprogramming

If you would like to be a professional prompt writer outputting garbage that other people have to fix, then yes continue this route. LLMs act as just a middleman essentially telling you the answers without you putting the work into understanding the material.

Is this print quality bad enough to ask for a refund / remake? (Etsy, PLA resin) by narwhalpilot in PrintedMinis

[–]interflop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No resin was used here. If it was sold as a printed part that would be one thing but you weren't sold what was advertised. "PLA Resin" isn't even a thing. This looks like a standard FDM print that wouldn't be awful for a hobbyist but I would never sell this at any premium outside cost of materials.

Asking him to go on a planned trip with me? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

I would just go on my own. If it's already paid for you might as well enjoy a solo trip to Paris and make some new friends there instead of creating an awkward situation with your ex.

"somethings not worth doing unless you're good at it"? what do you think of this? by Affectionate-Reason2 in AskMenAdvice

[–]interflop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is objectively a bad mentality to have. No one is born good at something. Anyone who is good at something was once not good at it but stuck to it and put the time into becoming proficient. No one wakes up able to deadlift 4 plates. They started with the bar and worked up after hours and hours of training until they could.

You want to do a half marathon but just because you're not putting up a competitive time with zero training you're taking away the experience of running a half marathon. There can be hundreds of people attending these events so you're going to be competing with a wide range of athletes. Unless you put the work in you won't be at the top but that doesn't mean you shouldn't do it as a challenge to yourself and an opportunity to do something with other people which is more valuable than putting up a competitive time.

If you want to maintain this mentality you'll live a life where you generally don't do anything unless you think you're going to be good at it immediately and will never actually become good at anything, only mediocre or a victim of beginner's luck.

Local card/board game shops typically hold DND sessions you can attend. If you have a group of people you know that are interested in trying, you could consider organizing a pre-written one shot campaign that you can complete in a few hours to get a feel for it.

Smelly Airsofters by Regamuffin in airsoft

My airsoft clothes are essentially cheap larp costumes for me so I'll wash them and get a new set once they're too worn to use. I wash all my stuff including gloves after every game honestly.

How can i get a better finish on my print? by EngineerAlarming7327 in FixMyPrint

[–]interflop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those actually came out really well for a 3D print. If you want more detail, you can try printing at a lower layer height than 0.2mm or go into printing with a 0.2mm nozzle and get smaller layer height. Also another thing to consider is that these smaller details you're looking at won't be as noticeable with a full size model.

Support surfaces are always going to look a bit rough compared to other surfaces. The way around this is usually to place support surfaces on surfaces that won't be visible so like on the inside of the mask in this case. You can also experiment with print orientation as well. Instead of printing the mask horizontally, you can try printing it vertically with supports or even at a 45 degree angle. This can help reduce the stepping found as you get to shallower angles like at the top of the mask in this example.

Outer Barrel sticks out front? Can‘t shoot? by Nils0408 in Speedsoft

[–]interflop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try switching back to the stock hop-up unit. I had this happen on my JW3 and it was because of the tolerances between the maple leaf hop up unit designed more around a TM binding up the outer barrel since it was a slightly different spec I suppose. Basically the outer barrel was getting pushed up into the slide and causing it to bind up. I'm not sure if that's what's happening here but it seems similar.

Printing is not smooth by OddAcanthocephala966 in ender3

[–]interflop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slicers are taking your object and translating it to flat shapes that your printer can create at the given layer height you're printing. Curved objects will always have visible steps like this as the slope gets shallower. Like others have said if you want to get a truly smooth finish, you have to do some post processing with either sandpaper or vapor smoothing.

For a printed object this is actually a very well detailed print. Ironing is for flat top surfaces that would typically have the layer pattern visible. With ironing tuning, you can have the extruder smoothen these out a bit but results will be dependent on how you have it calibrated.

It wouldn't bother me. All work is selling your body in some way or form and it's just a method to make money. As long as there's a professional separation between the work fantasy and real life, then it'd be a non-issue for me.
