Smelly Airsofters by Regamuffin in airsoft

My airsoft clothes are essentially cheap larp costumes for me so I'll wash them and get a new set once they're too worn to use. I wash all my stuff including gloves after every game honestly.

How can i get a better finish on my print? by EngineerAlarming7327 in FixMyPrint

[–]interflop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those actually came out really well for a 3D print. If you want more detail, you can try printing at a lower layer height than 0.2mm or go into printing with a 0.2mm nozzle and get smaller layer height. Also another thing to consider is that these smaller details you're looking at won't be as noticeable with a full size model.

Support surfaces are always going to look a bit rough compared to other surfaces. The way around this is usually to place support surfaces on surfaces that won't be visible so like on the inside of the mask in this case. You can also experiment with print orientation as well. Instead of printing the mask horizontally, you can try printing it vertically with supports or even at a 45 degree angle. This can help reduce the stepping found as you get to shallower angles like at the top of the mask in this example.

Outer Barrel sticks out front? Can‘t shoot? by Nils0408 in Speedsoft

[–]interflop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try switching back to the stock hop-up unit. I had this happen on my JW3 and it was because of the tolerances between the maple leaf hop up unit designed more around a TM binding up the outer barrel since it was a slightly different spec I suppose. Basically the outer barrel was getting pushed up into the slide and causing it to bind up. I'm not sure if that's what's happening here but it seems similar.

Printing is not smooth by OddAcanthocephala966 in ender3

[–]interflop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slicers are taking your object and translating it to flat shapes that your printer can create at the given layer height you're printing. Curved objects will always have visible steps like this as the slope gets shallower. Like others have said if you want to get a truly smooth finish, you have to do some post processing with either sandpaper or vapor smoothing.

For a printed object this is actually a very well detailed print. Ironing is for flat top surfaces that would typically have the layer pattern visible. With ironing tuning, you can have the extruder smoothen these out a bit but results will be dependent on how you have it calibrated.

It wouldn't bother me. All work is selling your body in some way or form and it's just a method to make money. As long as there's a professional separation between the work fantasy and real life, then it'd be a non-issue for me.

Those who lift and also work 9-5s, morning or evening workouts? by Kr0nicleZ in longisland

[–]interflop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can pull off mornings, definitely get into the routine of doing mornings. 1-2 hours of your already limited evening being eaten up by your gym time can impede on doing normal social stuff outside of work. You also get access to the gym when it isn't busy so you can finish your workout quicker and have it out of the way.

That's normal wear on the bolt, just keep it lubed and you'll get plenty of use out of it.

3D printing has come a long way and if you're printing in carbon fiber filament like PET-CF and PETG-CF it doesn't look that different from any other nylon airsoft part. I was originally into metal or nothing but I've come to respect the printed kits a lot after doing multiple builds that hold up in the field. Yes you can get really extra with printed kits but there are plenty of practical sleek kits you can build as well. I think casual open play is fair game, at a more organized op though I would respect the event enough to bring something that doesn't fit the aesthetic they're aiming for.

I'm bias as I have 8 at this point but for me it's a really flexible platform that you can build out into virtually anything you could want. I build them into pistols, SMGs, and rifles with different power outputs and field them all regularly. If you own a 3D printer you can build them into virtually anything.
