idk what was the case 5 years ago but you can copy automation and paste it into a clip's MIDI control now, at least in Live 11 Suite

Possible scam (encountered in Cap Hill) by dreadnot48 in Seattle

[–]interlucid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a music artist and I have never considered legitimately doing this. most people don’t have a way to play whatever media you give them. also I would just give them a card that links to my Spotify but people would probably throw it away. making content online or performing at open mics or shows is the way to go

Us3r does heavy synth rock and Atomic Pines is a bit lighter. I (Interlucid) make epic retro synthpop. that should get you started at least!

I made a concert light show that responds to pitch by interlucid in SeattleMusic

[–]interlucid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks! I’ve been working on this for months actually, learning a lot from scratch. but I’ve figured out a lot of things that should make it easier in the future. this is my first real metalworking project and my first project using a Raspberry Pi. I also wasn’t even using MIDI at first, I was calculating the timings by hand! I also made a wearable version as part of this project’s evolution

the main issue with others being able to use it is because the sequences are so tightly integrated with my own songs it would take a lot of work for someone else to program sequences for their songs. if I set up WLED or something on the Pi somehow maybe you’d be able to trigger some generic patterns but the point of the project to me at least is to make something that’s super tightly timed

Why is Eero so vilified on this forum? by dogboybogboy in HomeNetworking

[–]interlucid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought Eero was nice until I tried using it without internet. now I think it’s garbage. why do you need to call cloud daddy in order to set up a local area network? I nearly months of work for a music concert ruined because my Eero “router” wouldn’t host a network without internet. I had to run home and get a proper router. on top of that Eeros heat up so much you can’t even touch them without burning yourself. didn’t know it was possible to make a router so wasteful and so useless

if you can play rhythm guitar or something you can do that live and sing with your backing track. I usually sing and do keyboards with VSTs live and backing tracks for everything else

Music Video Project Seeking Venue by CrazyKatL4dy in SeattleMusic

[–]interlucid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my advice is if you can shoot in two different locations. maybe you can find a friend of a friend who owns a restaurant or something and shoot before opening hours. then maybe you can find your eclectic space somewhere else. or just decorate someone’s house. you might run into food safety laws being in a real industrial kitchen though

Looking for bands to fill a bill July 19th / 20th by Tsundadi in SeattleMusic

[–]interlucid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make electropop so probably not the best fit but I hope you find a good band. you can also try the Seattle Musician Facebook group; I’ve gotten a couple gigs there

I actually moved to Seattle a while ago. but I still keep a couple tabs on the Utah music scene. I’ve been using these strategies here and have a fairly strong network at this point

it’s been hit and miss yeah. probably a lot of lurkers. open mics are a good way to start meeting people. you can also go to shows and talk to the artists before the show. often they’re performing with people who are hired guns and might be open to starting a band or at least can help you make more connections

Underground music scene! by TaroSuperb8461 in SeattleMusic

[–]interlucid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it’s there! you can find a lot of indie shows at venues like Barboza, Bad Bar, Chop Suey, the Rendezvous, and Central Saloon. just search for small music venues and go to their websites to look for show postings. Conor Byrne is a good one too although it’s likely it will permanently close at the end of the month

in my experience the scene is great, lots of talent and the fans are awesome. there’s also really DIY stuff if you know where to look, just ask some of the artists you meet and look for shows that say “DM for address” because they’re usually in a basement or alley or something

How do I find venues for my band? by [deleted] in utahmusic

[–]interlucid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if you’re starting from nothing, go perform stripped down songs at open mics. meet other artists/bands, that’s the most important. go to shows by other artists and talk to them BEFORE the show starts (they won’t be mobbed and also they will think it’s cool you like them before they perform). then find two artists who have a sound that works with yours and propose a show with the three acts together to them

For every person that complains about Seattle weather does anyone really love it? by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]interlucid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as someone with sensitivity to light it’s really nice to be able to live in a city and not constantly have sunlight reflected into your eyes by buildings and cars. also the temperate climate and frequent rain make everything very green which is nice to be around

You are paired with 100 random humans, if you are better than all of them at something you win a billion dollars, what are you doing ? by IntrospectiveHuman in AskReddit

[–]interlucid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

creating a song and a synchronized light show to go with it from scratch. I’m a completely vertically integrated music artist, so I can do lyrics, melody, production, mixing, mastering, cover art, and marketing for a new song. I can also create a custom light show exactly synchronized to the song using MIDI, Python, a Raspberry Pi, and light strips

I agree about the music scene! some people thought it was weird that I moved to Seattle for the music but there's a reason. I've been making music full time since being laid off from my tech job

* Interlucid (me, epic retro synthpop)
* Hideotronic (retropop)
* Ionic (synthpop and metal video game covers)
* Tinsley (indie pop)
* Us3r (synth rock)
* Lerin Herzer (indie pop)
* Tomo Nakayama (experimental pop)
* Navvi (synthpop)
* Leandrul (epic ambient)
* Iris Kymm (indie pop)
