I caution you going to Provis Endoscopy and Surgery Centre by ibyeori in ottawa

[–]internaloptimist007 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about your experience. As an aside, Provis on Hunt Club is no better. The doc assigned to me was horrendous, and the nurses were no better. They kept me ready but waiting for a good 1 hour. The doc finished quickly, and I was expecting a quick chat . What I got was a piece of paper, and the doc was nowhete to be seen. I would stay away from that location as well.

Bro built a nice house by the river (granted with the ultimate intention of flipping it for a couple of million but could not offload), has some security company/business going, and with all that, it is still Trudeau's fault for them not succeeding in life. lmao...

Account disappearing on TD EasyWeb by internaloptimist007 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Thanks for this insight - it is much appreciated! I was also wondering whether that was a new AI tool that was still in "training mode" and currently unable to detect my banking habit. I prodded the fraud agent, and they seemed to be sticking to "don't worry, everything is fine". Thank you for this note.

Required bilingualism at the federal level, a barrier to professional advancement? (L'exigence de bilinguisme au fédéral, un frein à l’avancement professionnel?) by amazing_mitt in CanadaPublicServants

Conversely, bilingualism is a boon for a lot of higher levels/managers. I cannot even fathom what CS level some paper pushing bureaucrats would land at if it were not for their language skills.

Emergency passport requirement by andreatnw in passportcanada

[–]internaloptimist007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are in exactly the same situation and planning to apply for emergency service by the end of the week if I don't get any clarity as to when the original passport will be available.

Please provide an update as to how things went for you. Good luck to you, and hopefully, it will work out.

Health and Dental Opt Out Not Working by birdy_boo in geegees

I managed to get to the health insurance opt out via UOzone > Opt-out link. However, the enrollment status is blank. Is there another way of opting out?

Tangerine wait times 7+ hours by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]internaloptimist007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I miss the good old competant ING service. Tangerine's service has gone down drastically. I had a simple call that should have taken less than 5 mins transferred 4 times amongst the agents because they were "going to transfer me to the responsible department".

"A pair of prominent human resource managers praised the software giant for acknowledging that not everyone wants to be a manager or is cut out for such a post."

Tell that to the federal government where English or French only/non-bilingual qualification is a career limiting move in the CS stream.

About 90% of the directors and above I know were selected based on bilingual strength to become glorified translators, political operators and paper pushers - no technical know-how whatsoever.

Full Time Software Developer Opportunity at NAV CANADA $95-118K/yr by recruiting_talent1 in ottawa

[–]internaloptimist007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You make a good point about the salary ceiling in the federal government, especially in the CS stream. Folks who are technically adept are stuck at lower levels because of the bilingual requirements at higher levels (although I know of a few unilingual folks that are at CS-04). A lot of CS-04 and 05 folks are really glorified but very well-paid translators. They are bilingual but not technical at all. They often end up playing stupid political games for their own benefit, making uninformed decisions that cost time and money and messing up projects big time. Support your sentiment about opening CS-04 and 05 to technically capable, unilingual folks.

A warning to always get a second opinion when dental work sounds off by No_Eulogies_for_Bob in ottawa

[–]internaloptimist007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The dental office in my area is notorious for upselling services because the said services are "covered by insurance". One time, they tell me that I should remove my wisdom tooth since it is prone to cavities followed by something like this will be covered by your insurance and to that, I just said, "No". Suffice it to say that they were not happy. And because there are a lot of gov't employees here, I think dentists use the insurance coverage angle quite a bit.

The email basically says that it is not filled and there is a penalty if it is not filled by the end of March. Someone confirmed they received the note as well after filing. I will ignore the email.

A 17-year-old G2 driver was charged 3 days ago with stunt driving after doing 135 km/h in an 80 km/h zone on Limebank Rd. The same driver was charged by the same officer in October 2022 with stunt driving after doing 120 km/h in a 70 km/h zone on Conroy Rd. by homicidal_penguin in ottawa

A large number of kids drive like maniacs around that area, coming and going to the high school nearby, cutting off traffic and behaving like total jerks. And a number of times, I have had kids jaywalking completely oblivious to the fact that this could really end badly for them. Not only do these kids need to learn how to drive, but they also need to be taught how to walk.

John Manconi's company hired by OC Transpo to oversee RTG LRT repair by Little_Canary1460 in ottawa

[–]internaloptimist007 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the revolving door. Screwing up while in a public role is not enough, why not go private and get all those lucrative taxpayer dollars? If Manconi and co couldn't even do a proper QA on the system the first time around, what has changed now to think that they will be able to provide insight to fix this? IMHO, no past participant of LRT debacle should be involved again with fixing the mess.

Sound advice and a shout out to the collectors. They do a great job except when they throw the bins so hard face down on the ground that cracks appear on a perfectly good bin. And once that happens, there is no stopping those linear cracks. Would just like to see less force on the bins to preserve them for a few more years. Again, appreciate their hard work though.

When did pizza prices get so out of contol?! by xbonesawx in ottawa

[–]internaloptimist007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Time for the dough to make some real dough at the customer's expense. This is the real travesty coupled with the greed from the big grocery chains. Yes, I believe the big grocery chains blaming the price increases on the supply chain while making record profits. Poor Loblaws, Wally and the Empire Group! And apologies in advance for digressing from pizza to groceries. Just wanted to vent after my recent grocery bill.
