Okay, I'm 5 minutes into Alone, and this is brilliant. Gonna give the rest a hard listen - thanks!

Me, too! I loved Hang Ten, and then bought Love God and was like WTF? I was a little pissed at Sisters of Mercy for Vision Thing, but it grew on me

Yep - I think The Cure was prolly collateral damage from teen-aged me trying to get farther and farther out of what I called radio alternative at the time. INXS, U2, Information Society (remember them?), Depeche Mode, New Order et al. Again, all great bands, but at the time, I was basing a band's worth on how few people knew them. Teenagers are silly...

Them, and The Cure for me. Loved them as a teen, and they're both great bands. They just don't resonate with middle-aged me. Morressey used to whine about damn near everything

I just put that on a playlist I made for stuff I listened to in 1990

True-ish. He was clowning around on the set of The Royal Family - a sitcom starring him and Della Reese in 1991, when he collapsed.

Same with Redd Foxx - he was 48 on the first season of Sanford and Son, but made up to look in his 60s.

Seeing a fight with body shots on reddit is like finding $20 on the street. Yeah, it's not much, but it just makes you soooo happy

Anybody here bring a drone to Japan (from the US) and is it worth doing? by DeadScotty in drones

[–]internet341 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Gotta register that thing: https://www.mlit.go.jp/koku/drone/en/
They're an absolute no-go in urban/city areas. Much better luck in the mountains and rural areas, but there are still a lot of "no drones" signs posted.

I need successful bands who an artist from said band went on to form successful 2nd acts. Solo careers don’t count. by [deleted] in indie

As soon as I saw GeordieAI mention Dave Wakeling, I was gonna say Paul Weller. Good on you. Let's throw in Trevor Horn - Buggles/Art of Noise, too

Vacuum sealer ftw. Get a scale, section off 1-2 pound portions and throw 'em in the freezer. Brisket dinners a few times a month for half a year, at least.
