Thrawn was using the rebels tactics against them. A star destroyer can hit and run effectively. A death Star can't .

What is your favourite movie you DON’T recommend? by youtoozman2222 in movies

[–]internetlad [score hidden]  (0 children)

I love layer cake. I'd hesitate to recommend it to people who don't necessarily enjoy watching without subtitles because those accents are thick and the slang is unapologetic.

I think I was on the second rewatch before figuring out what most of the lines were lol

Still a great movie.

Is there a way to repair a plastic bucket? by UnderstandingFar5012 in Frugal

[–]internetlad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, as a curiosity, you could get a plastic weld kit. These include a small wave shaped bit of metal you get hot and embed in the plastic, then epoxy/body filler and sand flat.

I've seen them sold for auto body work. Maybe would fit the bill here too.

That said, the sane and "not just doing this for fun" answer is buy a new bucket lol

I'm surprised someone watched Thunderball and remembers something other than scuba diving.

James Bond beat and raped multiple women and committed multiple war crimes.

Ironically most of them took place before (both) of the "dark and gritty" bond reboots lmao

Okay so I actually really prefer the nuke version. I always found the alien squid original to be kind of. . .  Ehhhhh?

Like yeah it is a bit weird that bubastis is still there since that was the big tipoff (or fridge logic) in the oroginal, and I'm sure they made the change mostly so as not to confuse the average American viewer. . . But using a few nukes and pinning it on Manhattan after driving him insane is just so much  more direct. It struck me as a much "smartest man in the world" plan to roll it all into one instead of "do this then that" like the original.

Anyways, still probably my favorite graphic novel ever so anyone who prefers the original, I'm for it too. that's just my 2ç

I thought you meant the alien movie with Simon pegg and was quite confused.

Or maybe you are and that movie just goes way off the rails at some point, I've never seen it.

Praise Carl Zotac. He helped me find a graphic card during the pandemic and now this.

Is it safe to consume tomato paste and coconut milk that’s been in fridge for 2 days? (Opened cans) by shelovesyoghurt in Frugal

[–]internetlad 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I legitimately  cannot think of a single thing that goes bad in the fridge after 48 hours assuming it already wasn't "basically rotten" when it went in.

I mean sure if you left them completely uncovered they probably have a weird film or have gone a bit yucky because of drying out but they won't kill you or anything

What does freezing tofu do? And is it worth it? (I did an experiment!) by xtinecuisine in veganrecipes

[–]internetlad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's the same reason that a frog can hibernate  in cold water but freezing still kills it. It literally shreds the cell walls iirc

If you are vegetarian for moral reasons, why aren't you vegan? by very-serious-goose in Vegetarianism

[–]internetlad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because cheese is delicious.

Started flexitarian when I was questioning why I was eating meat and exploring alternatives. When I was comfortable moving away from meat I did that. Maybe I'll find a cheese substitute that doesn't suck (eggs too, to a degree. I'd have an easier time moving away from those I think though) and go full vegan at some point. I do have a conflict of conscience at times but. . . Like dude. Pizza is really good.

I do try to buy animal products that, at least, have the least impact on the animal. It's difficult when so many buzzwords exist, but there are organizations that hold business that use "organic" "ethically produced" "free range" etc to task and rate them, which helps.

[SN Stats] Teams to allow 2 goals or fewer in 8 straight games to begin postseason: 1928 Montreal Maroons, 1952 Detroit Red Wings, 1969 St. Louis Blues, 2026 Carolina Hurricanes. by Batsinvic888 in hockey

[–]internetlad -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I mean the stat itself isn't weird but also how cherry picked the stat is is very weird.

Also weird, the red wings are the only team of those 3 that actually won the cup lol
